Purpose
SMBC are continuing their cloud adoption journey and so we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure Cloud Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing cloud-based solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, resilient, scalable and secure solutions that meet business requirements.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Working closely with our IT colleagues (including Information Security, Networks, Infrastructure and Support) design, implement and maintain Azure core infrastructure and resources to support our business

Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD DevSecOps tools

Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments ensuring high availability and performance

Working with Information Security, assist in the implementation and management of security best practices, including access control, data encryption and threat detection

Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing applications and systems
-
Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure technologies and industry best practices
-
Participate in the evaluation and selection of new cloud-based technologies and services
-
Contribute to the improvement of cloud operations and processes
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
-
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) working as a Cloud Engineer in Azure
-
Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and their Azure implementation including networking, storage and security as well as other concepts such as SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
-
Proven experience with DevSecOps practices (e.g. Git, CI/CD) and tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise and GitLab
-
Strong proficiency with IaC tools such as ARM/Bicep templates, Terraform, etc.

Solid understanding of Azure Identity and Access Management (IAM) using Entra ID and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Experience with scripting languages, e.g. PowerShell, Bash and Python

Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Strong communications and collaboration skills with the ability to produce clear documentation in corporate Wiki tools, for example
-
Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
-
Relevant Azure certifications are a plus

Experience of other Cloud Service Providers and their offerings, e.g. Google Cloud Platform, AWS, etc. is also a plus
