Section 2 – Purpose of Job

Position is to ensure all the following job:

• SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners (H.Q) are trying to promote an equity investment as well as lease and finance to infrastructure projects that will run over a several years in cooperation with partners in Europe, such as infrastructure funds, debt funds, integrated trading companies (Sougou Shosha), and banks/non-banks. FL London will support SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners based on the service agreement to be concluded between SMFL Mirai Partners and FL London. The role of SMFL London is to find the suitable partners, to find equity or debt finance opportunities, to execute due diligences of concrete projects, to analyse the cash flow models provided by the partners to check the feasibility of projects, and to support SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners to prepare the credit application to be submitted to the Investment Committee of SMFL in Tokyo. FL London will also support the collaboration between SMFL and SMBC Leasing UK Limited (LF UK) which SMFL takes 30% stakes in order to promote senior or junior debt projects for SMFL. 
• The person in this position will be involved in all these projects to support SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners under the supervision of General Manager.
• The person will also be taking on a greater Portfolio Management role for the ongoing Portfolio Management requirements for complex structured transactions based on the request from SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners.
• The person will be responsible for the execution of deals, which includes agreeing cashflows, updating documents for deal closing, and ensuring deal closes.
• To help manage any changes of terms for the existing portfolio, both leases and loans. Leases can be complex to terminate or deal with at maturity and this role requires the oversight to ensure those processes work correctly and smoothly.
• To aid funding process of deals to ensure all funding matches underling deals, this involves on ensuring funding and associated swaps match.
• Manage junior team resource, if any, to ensure they are performing their functions successfully.

Section 3 – Background

• SMFL is 50:50 Joint Venture between SMFG and Sumitomo Corporation. SMFL Mirai Partners is 100% subsidiary company of SMFL in charge of Equity Investment as a non-regulated financial entity which is independent from SMFG from regulatory point of view. Consequently, SMBC requires SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners to be able to run as an autonomous entity within the group although sharing a range of resources via SLAs. Therefore, in the future SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners will set up their own Middle Desk and Back Office teams in charge of credit control and funding function in FL London to support the front desk and the credit control and risk management department located in H.Q.

Section 4 – Facts / Scale

• Detailed knowledge and some experience of leasing and finance business is required. It is preferable, if there is work experience in credit control/ risk analysis.
• In the future, the person may move to the credit control team in FL London, once the team is established.

Section 5 – Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Act as a first contact for SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners on  deal by deal basis and be responsible for the processing of those deals
• Analyse the due diligence report including the cashflow model provided by the partners and prepare the initial credit paper and/or opinion about the deal for further study by the H.Q.
• Collect information about infrastructure sector, deals/projects in the sector, rules and regulations to implement deals/projects requested by SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners.   
• Control and be responsible for deal closing processes. This includes arranging funding and swaps for deals, when it is necessary 
• Keep good relationship with SMBC Bank International and Sumitomo Corporation EU as the shareholders of SMFL and SMFL Mirai Partners.

Section 6 – Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• History of working in leasing and financing industry especially in the credit control, risk management field (preferable)
• Experience in project/structured finance
• Developed understanding of lease and financing products are required
• Good numerical and analytical skills are required
• Ability to think laterally and apply dept sector knowledge to deals/projects
