Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Director Abu Dhabi Coverage for our International Structured Finance Department Middle East to join our team.
- The role will involve marketing of the SMBC Groups’ various products and solutions in accordance with the SMBC Abu Dhabi Office’s regulatory approvals/license to clients in Abu Dhabi as local liaison.
- Generally, the role would involve supporting marketing activities with Abu Dhabi customers to be booked in other SMBC offices by maintaining close contact with the Abu Dhabi customers, monitoring deal opportunities and arranging introductions.
- There is a significant Abu Dhabi customer facing element to the role covering all types of customers including industry, banks and financial institutions, advisors and government. The role is expected to have its own network of Abu Dhabi customers, advisors and other industry players.
- The role has responsibility to contribute to achievement for the budget of ISD ME which is around USD130-150m per year.

The role sits within the EMEA Corporate and Investment Banking Division.
Position Description
- The role of Director in ISD ME covering Abu Dhabi exists to lead in Abu Dhabi client relationship management, supporting business activities, origination of new business, and providing strategic and business development support to senior management in delivering the team, unit and department’s budget and objectives.
- The role may require line management of junior staff and will involve the management of multiple project/deal teams of internal and external staff.
- Manage to maintain and deepen a focal 'one point of contact' for the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC”) Group’s clients in Abu Dhabi and ensure superior customer service approach to meeting their needs and requirements.
- Manage to maintain and deepen relationships with the existing clients in Abu Dhabi as well as building new relationships with potential target clients according to the SMBC Group’s operating module.
- Externally, the role will require engagement with senior level management and representatives of the SMBC Group’s Abu Dhabi customers and counterparties.
- Internally, the role will require engagement and collaboration within SMBC Group across EMEA and globally, including branches across the regions and other global divisions and other SMBC Group entities including SMBC Nikko.
