Role Summary
The role of the team is to coordinate the end to end execution process for a wide range of corporate lending products including:
- corporate lending (syndicated & bilateral)
- lending to sovereigns
- Islamic financing
- bank and non-bank financial institution lending including insurers
The role requires close interaction with a range of Front Office business teams across EMEA region, credit officers and other internal stakeholders such as tax, legal, sanctions & forensics and operational teams.
Business Area
The team supports corporate banking teams in western Europe and across central eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East in addition to the Global Financial Institutions team and certain vanilla trade finance products.
Position Description
The role of VP will require the job holder to assume sole responsibility for the end to end execution of bilateral loans and participations in syndicated facilities. They will manage all aspects of the execution process on a largely unsupervised basis and will need to demonststrate a clear understanding of commercial risk and be able to identify matters which require escalation to senior team members.
Strong organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet demanding timeframes is essential.
Transactions encountered may include more complex structured features and over time the job holder will require confidence to upskill to develop technical expertise in these areas.
Skills
Be very familiar with LMA investment grade and developing market recommended forms of documentation and confident in the negotiation of all key commercial provisions of syndicated loan documentation in order to minimise documentation risk and improve documentation standards throughout the bank
Ensure documentation is thoroughly reviewed and checked against internal policies as well as current market standards to ensure its robustness from a credit and risk perspective and to help the wider LCM team increase liquidity as part of effective portfolio management.
Have a solid level of understanding of loan structuring (security, subordination and inter-creditor terms etc) to enable support and solution-driven advice to be provided to Front Office and Credit Department collages on all aspects of the current European syndicated loan market.
Be ahead of the curve in anticipating potential documentation issues specific to a borrower or more generally resulting from external macro-economic or political factors and be ready to provide advice on those topics.
Have a basic understanding of key credit issues in loan capital markets and be prepared to develop this through experience gained by advising on live transactions supported by internal development and training.
Contribute to the development of knowledge in the wider firm by creating template documentation, guidance notes and designing and delivering training on loan documentation.
Be familiar with external regulation and other market factors that impact on loan documentation and work together with internal stakeholders, together with an understanding of internal policy, to ensure best practice is adopted and LCM Execution’s position as ‘centre of excellence’ for documentation is strengthened.
