Role Summary
Purpose of the Role
- Support preparation and review of annual reviews and eventually credit applications (new business) from Front Office providing recommendations to Approvers within ACCD (Aircraft Credit Department).
- A second line of defence role providing credit risk management / oversight of new business and portfolio management, in designated sectors within the ACCD globally (Commercial Aircraft, Engines and Helicopter leasing).
- Support team in the effective credit management of client relationship and exposures within designated sectors within the ACCD Credit portfolio globally.
Requirements of the Role
- Degree level education and / or relevant professional qualifications (eg: ACA, ACCA, ACT, CFA), and interest in the aviation sector.
- Experience (2 years+) in a credit management role within a international bank or aviation lessor.
- Working knowledge of key products (all or some is an advantage) corporate loan structures, leasing products, derivative products, asset finance, capital markets products, including familiarity with documentation and market trends.

Background
- Report to Deputy General Manager, within a team of c11 specialist Asset and Credit Risk professionals.
- Support lead analyst on portfolio accounts and new transactions, working to build / maintain relationships with Front Office Credit Team’s.
Facts / Scale
- Assist in management of a c.US$25bn+ Top-tier leasing portfolio of c. 650+ commercial aircraft / c.100 aircraft engines / c100 helicopter assets, covering credit management of c.150+ global customers.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Work in support of strong risk assessment methodology toward management of a portfolio of leased aircraft / engines / helicopter assets, across a broad variety of aviation sectors, geographies, and asset types.
- Working to support Front Office deal teams to ensure delivery to clients whilst maintaining high credit quality. Articulate ACCD risk perception and appetite for a transaction in line with SMFL policy and procedures.
- Flexibility to work to tight deadlines under pressure (including ability to work outside of contracted hours from time to time / as workflow demands), to give prompt responses to customers.

- Short deadlines and ability to think clearly whilst working under pressure.
- Willingness to commit to getting up the curve in terms of understanding the aviation sector and supporting the team to achieve overall objectives.
- Identification of key risk issues from a large volume of information in credit papers, markets data, and due diligence reports.
- Conflict management between Front Office and ACCD as part of a rigorous ‘propose and challenge’ process between first and second lines of defence.
- Working as part of a team protecting the shareholders balance sheet in a higher risk business.
