We're looking for a Transaction Banking Vice President to join our Global Transaction Banking Department (GTBD).

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the growth of SMBC's Transaction Banking franchise across EMEA. Working closely with Relationship Managers, Product teams, and clients, you will drive cash management sales, support business development initiatives, and help expand wallet share across corporate and institutional clients. The role also provides significant exposure to strategic initiatives, product development, and client engagement across an evolving international business.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Driving cash management business growth through the origination, marketing, and delivery of Transaction Banking solutions
  • Developing client relationships and identifying opportunities to increase deposits, revenues, and wallet share across an assigned portfolio
  • Acting as a key liaison between clients, Relationship Teams, Product, Operations, and Technology to deliver effective Transaction Banking solutions

 

For you to succeed in the role, you'll need to have:

  • Significant experience within Transaction Banking, Cash Management, Corporate Banking, or a related financial services environment
  • Strong knowledge of cash management products, client connectivity solutions, deposits, liquidity structures, and Transaction Banking services
  • Excellent relationship management, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence both clients and internal stakeholders

 

The anticipated salary range for this role is €76,000 - €116,000, with the final offer determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.

About this role

 

The Transaction Banking Vice President is part of the Global Transaction Banking Department (GTBD) and plays a key role in supporting the growth and development of its activity across EMEA.

 

The role is responsible for driving cash management sales activities, developing client relationships, and promoting a broad range of Transaction Banking solutions to corporate and institutional clients. Working closely with Relationship Managers, Product teams, and regional stakeholders, the position supports the achievement of strategic business objectives through revenue generation, deposit growth, and increased client penetration.

 

 

Our role will enable you to:

  • Drive the growth of Transaction Banking revenues and deposits across an assigned client portfolio
  • Develop expertise across SMBC's Transaction Banking product suite, including cash management, connectivity solutions, liquidity management, and related services
  • Build strong relationships with Relationship Managers, Product teams, and clients across EMEA
  • Contribute to product development initiatives by providing client feedback, market insights, and commercial perspectives
  • Participate in business development activities, industry events, client advisory forums, and strategic marketing initiatives

 

What will you bring to the role?

  • Relevant degree in Business Management, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience within Transaction Banking, Cash Management, Corporate Banking, Treasury Services, or a related financial services environment
  • Proven track record of originating business opportunities, developing client relationships, and driving revenue growth
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to understand client treasury needs and identify opportunities to expand wallet share
  • Excellent knowledge of Transaction Banking products, including cash management, liquidity solutions, deposits, and client connectivity services
  • Strong presentation, communication, and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior client stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Ability to develop tailored client propositions and translate business needs into practical Transaction Banking solutions
  • Self-starter with a proactive, results-driven approach and a strong focus on client outcomes
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken

 

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting European Corporate clients within a Transaction Banking or Cash Management environment
  • Knowledge of bank connectivity solutions, Host-to-Host channels, SWIFT connectivity, virtual accounts, and cash pooling structures
  • Understanding of cross-border banking regulations and Transaction Banking market practices
  • Experience contributing to go-to-market strategies, RFP responses, client advisory councils, or industry events
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange, liquidity management, and broader treasury products
  • Additional language skills (Italian or Spanish) would be advantageous
