GFIG Analyst

  • Supporting the relationship managers and senior coverage bankers of both NBFI and Banks customers . In particular, to support the senior GFIG relationship manager in Paris and the other EU-based relationship managers.
  • Assisting in the risk analysis of Bank, Broker Dealer, Clearing House and Insurance exposure in addition to Funds analysis.
  • This role will require strong relationships internally, including CD, OAD, legal, compliance, LCM (Execution) and PD.

This role will require the development and use of skills in credit analysis, private markets analysis, data handling and execution support

Business Area

  • The role of GFIG is to cover all aspects of relationship management, including deal origination, for Financial Clients of SMBC group. The model under which GFIG operates is based upon the relationships and knowledge of its senior bankers. In order to maximise the productivity of GFIG, the senior bankers need to focus on client management and deal origination.
  • Therefore, GFIG needs to put in place junior resources to be able to support the senior bankers and relationship directors. This will allow the senior bankers to continue to originate transactions even when there is a strong existing pipeline, in the knowledge that there is enough junior resource to ensure that all the requirements needed to ensure the progression of deals through the internal approvals process and execution is properly managed.

Position Description

  • Support the relationship managers and senior coverage bankers within GFIG covering both NBFI and Banks customers.
  • Develop relevant skills in banking, including credit, KYC and operations.
  • Actively participate in the proposed junior banker training programme for compulsory and optional topics.
  • Work with the GFIG credit team to become able to create credit applications (including GBR) to be submitted to CD, marketing comments,  RaROC and other analysis.
  • Attend external meetings with clients with relationship directors and senior bankers, including assisting in preparation of call reports.
  • Assist in preparing team marketing materials, pitch-books and reports, to ensure successful promotion of the team’s activities both internally and externally.
  • Conduct market research on client activities.
  • Assist internal colleagues in the drafting and reviewing of documentation (mandate and execution documents) in cooperation with LCMX, OAD etc.
  • Assist with ensuring the Deal Pipeline document is kept fully up to date.
  • Attend internal meetings with RM departments to gain and share information.
  • Comply with all regulatory and internal policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide information to clients on SMFG products and services, including investment products.
