Why joining our Leveraged Finance Origination team?

SMBC Group is recognised as one of the largest leaders in the LBO market.

Leveraged Finance Origination team provides lead arrange financing for mid and large cap clients; Key products include Senior and Unitranche financing as well as underwritten senior and 2nd lien debt.

Leverage Finance gathers ca 60 professionals, focusing on non-investment grade debt financings for Private Equity and leveraged Corporates across Europe (Frankfurt, London, Paris teams).

Our team is looking for a new analyst intern for a 6-month period starting in July 2026.

 

As an intern in Paris Origination team, you will

  • Originate and execute debt transactions (loans and bonds) for leveraged clients in France;
  • Prepare (in English) credit applications (ie industry and company analysis) / attend Credit Committee;
  • Run Excel financial models (B/S- P/L and Cash Flow for Base Case and Downside Scenario);
  • Participate in pitches preparation for clients on existing / new opportunities (new LBO transaction, refinancing, dividend recap…);
  • Support the Cap Market team (in case of underwriting and syndication process) in the production of marketing materials / investors Q&A.

Profile

  • End-of-studies student or Gap year (“césure”) / 2nd year student
  • With interest in leveraged finance
  • Prior internship experience, ideally in LBO (banks, CLOs, Private Equity) or in the banking industry is welcome.
  • Excellent fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is required.
