In EMEA, the Export and Development Solutions Team has developed extensive experience in advising and arranging Export Credit Agency (“ECA”), Development Finance Institutions (“DFI”) and Multilateral Agencies (“MLA”) supported solutions to bring optimised funding solutions for our customers.
The Front Office EDS team, which comprises 12 professionals across Paris, London and Milan, is looking for a new analyst intern for a 6-month period starting in July 2026.
As an intern in the Front Office EDS team, you will:
- Support the origination and execution of ongoing and new mandates where one of our partner ECAs or Development Agencies is involved in EMEA region.
- Provide support to the execution team by reviewing and analysing information including customer financial statements, financial models, due diligence and legal documentation.
- Assist in monitoring the existing portfolio of the team’s deals, including handling a certain number of ECA Agency mandates and supporting distribution activities.
- Support the marketing activities of the team by preparing customized marketing materials (in English or in French) and financing proposals in accordance with SMBC’s policies.
- Write internal credit applications in English
- Assist with internal reporting.
Profile
- End-of-studies student or gap year (“année de césure”) / 2nd year student
- With interest in structured export and development finance specially in emerging markets.
- Prior internship experience, ideally in the banking industry, financial sector or public service is welcome.
Skills valued
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)
- Good knowledge of financial analysis
