Role Summary

As a Vice President Credit Analyst in the Corporate Banking Department II, you will act as the first line of defence in managing credit risk for a portfolio of corporate clients. You will play a key role in assessing, structuring, and monitoring credit exposures to ensure the bank’s assets are protected and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Proven experience as a corporate credit analyst through at least one economic cycle and exposure to the Sub-IG world and/ or corporate leveraged/structured finance.
  • Strong analytical, financial modelling, and documentation review skills.
  • Fluency in English and French, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Business Area

Corporate Banking Department II (CBD2) – Front Office Credit.

The team supports the bank’s corporate lending and risk management activities across EMEA, focusing on a diverse portfolio including syndicated loans, derivatives, trade finance, and corporate leveraged/ M&A finance solutions. CBD2 FBNL (incl. France and Benelux) is part of the wider CBD2 EMEA team.

 

CBD2 EMEA has around 240 customer groups for which FO Credit monitor the credit risk of  USD 75bn of funded assets and commitment lines.  FO Credit teams across EMEA prepare c.600 monitoring applications per year.

Position Description

The Credit Analyst (VP) is responsible for managing credit risk in line with internal policies and external regulations. This includes conducting in-depth credit analysis, preparing credit applications, and supporting the structuring and negotiation of new transactions.

 

The role also involves continuous monitoring of existing clients and contributing to special credit reviews (overall managed portfolio of c.15 corporate medium/ high complexity customer groups).

 

The credit analyst will be reporting to the CBD2 FBNL Head of Credit.

Job Responsibilities

Credit Quality

  • Prepare succinct, high-quality credit applications with financial, industry, and peer analysis, projection modelling and analysis.
  • Recommend obligor and facility grades aligned with Basel requirements and internal policies.
  • Review junior analysts’ work to ensure quality of credit submissions and loan documentation to ensure risk is minimized.
  • Support or lead deal teams depending on transaction complexity and own appetite.
  • Engage with stakeholders (RMs, Credit Dept, Corporate Research Dept, Specialist Product teams etc.) to ensure smooth credit approval processes.
  • Contribute to Special Credit Reviews to mitigate potential losses.

Credit Processes

  • Assist in managing daily workflow and sector coverage within the team.
  • Ensure timely portfolio reviews and compliance with internal policies.
  • Maintain internal systems and grading tools to ensure compliance with all procedures.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.

  • Familiarity with legal documentation (LMA, ISDA, CSA) both in the IG and sub-IG world
  • Sector expertise in at least three industries (e.g., Oil & Gas, Pharma, TMT, Autos, etc.).
  • Experience in sub-investment grade and/or leveraged finance.

Education

  • Degree-level education and/or relevant professional qualifications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and development.
