Role Summary
The position holder will assist the Regulatory Compliance team by executing CPD processes and procedures which allow the business conducted by the Bank in France to comply with the applicable laws, regulations, and internal rules from SMBC Group and SMBC EU AG
Business Area
- The compliance team in Paris has around 10 staff
- The compliance team in Paris includes the following sub teams: Financial crimes, Regulatory compliance, Business management, Compliance Monitoring & Surveillance
- The position holder will primarily support Regulatory Compliance but could also support the rest of the Compliance team, including to prepare packs and meeting materials for senior management attention
Position Description
- Central Compliance
- Ensure the regular recording and tracking of communications with regulators, including the AMF, ACPR, and Banque de France
- Assist the team in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for local and European management (e.g. Key Risk Indicators, Paris Management Committee materials)
- Support the management and monitoring of client complaints, in coordination with business departments
- Participate in regulatory watch activities (review of monthly alerts, assessment of their applicability to SMBC EU Paris activities, and contribution to the implementation of new regulations)
- Contribute to the update of local procedures
- Participate in the delivery of trainings
- Compliance Advisory
- Assist in the review of marketing materials submitted by business lines
- Support the team in the execution of monthly and quarterly controls and reconciliations relating to personal account dealing and personal conflicts of interest
- Contribute to the periodic review of existing products
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
Hard skills
- Proficiency in standard IT tools (Microsoft Office suite)
- Understanding of the structure and interaction of French and European regulations, basic knowledge on MiFID / EMIR and other European regulation is a plus)
- Some knowledge on banking, project finance and investment products, or willingness to learn about these activities
- Good level of English (the position holder will need to exchange in English with CPD colleagues in the EMEA region and some of the front office employees)
