Position Description

SMBC Corporate Coverage team is looking for a new intern to join our Front Office team, for a 6-month period starting in January 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and diverse team within SMBC in France. As a member of SMBC’s Large French Corporates Coverage team, the intern will learn about the product and service offering of a global bank and how we manage business relationships with CAC 40 / SBF 120 clients and prospects companies.

 

Job responsibilities

 

The intern will contribute to the production of commercial presentations (for M&A / DCM / LCM / Trade Finance / Project finance etc.), strategic notes and financial analysis on SMBC’s clients and potential prospects;

He/She will assist the Senior Bankers / Relationship Managers team in their daily tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Support the dialogue with SMBC’s products lines / specialist (M&A, DCM, LCM, Trade Finance, Project Finance, FX / Derivatives / Shipping Finance, etc.);
  • Produce transactions return analysis, profitability scenarios and pricing quotation for the different banking products proposed by the bank;
  • Review documentation in cooperation with legal teams and credit / middle office teams;
  • Produce sectorial analysis to support SMBC’s development strategy in France;
  • Coordinate as much as needed with SMBC’s international hubs to support our client’s global footprint (Americas, Asia and EMEA); 
  • Contribute to elaborate and update internal reporting tools (Budget & Operations management, P&L tracking, Annual Credit Review, etc.)

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

 

  • Gap year/end-of-studies student in finance, enrolled in a top business / engineering school;
  • Well organized, autonomous, with a great capacity to analyse and synthetize, team player and open-minded;
  • Excellent communication skills both in French and English, written and spoken;
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
  • Achievement oriented, focused on exceeding business goals with strong attention to details;
  • Strong interest for investment, economic and banking concepts;
  • Good understanding and interest for financial / credit analysis;
  • Proficient with MS Office Pack (Excel, Word, PPT);
  • First experience in banking or financial services industry is preferred.
