Section 2 – Purpose of Job

The Marketing department in Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management (UK) Ltd, (“SMDAM (UK)”) covers extensive areas of marketing activities, from business development, promoting our investment products as well as providing client relations and producing clients reports. The department has grown rapidly in recent years and SMDAM (UK) is seeing an individual who can provide support for our busy Marketing department which has three sub divisions, Business development, Client relations and Front office supports teams.

SMDAM (UK) Marketing department acts as a main marketing hub in EMEA region. The department has gown fast and there have been ever-increasing activities such as meetings, receiving visitors, business travel and organising events. We need supports for both in individuals as well as for the department as a whole.

•           Support for Business Development team, MD, ED and of two Directors

•             Providing support to Client Service and Reporting team

•             Providing general support for the whole Marketing department

 

 

Section 3 – Background

SMDAM (UK) is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management Company Ltd., which is one of leading global active investment managers in Japan, covering a wide range of asset classes including equities, fixed income and alternatives. The Marketing department promotes and markets our investment products and provide client relations to existing and prospective clients. This role is a key hire to support SMDAM (UK)’s plans to significantly expand its marketing activities outside of Japan over the next ten years.  

 

 

Section 4 – Facts / Scale

  • Close collaboration with Marketing teams, MDs, Compliance and Accounting/Administration teams, a wide variety of internal subject matter experts.
  • Liaise with SMDAM Tokyo head office in Japan

 

 

Section 5 – Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Provide support for MD, diary management
  • Liaise with other departments and prepare various forms and claims for internal approval
  • Travel arrangement and travel itinerary management for Business development team and prepare reports and expense forms
  • Provide support for ad-hoc projects – organising marketing events and coordinating with various venders
  • Liaise and maintain smooth communication with colleagues

  • Standards of compliance, conduct and ethics

Soft skills

  • Ability to establish smooth working relationships with all internal clients, including amongst others: Business Development, International Teams, Risk Management, Legal & Compliance, Operations and HR teams etc
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines across multiple time zones, and identify priorities
  • Tailoring communication to the technical level of the audience

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Clarity and competence in written and spoken English is essential to the role, across all levels of the business
  • Highly numerate with experience of data management
  • Attention to detail

Education & Qualifications

  • Experience of the asset or investment management environment is advantageous
