Purpose of Job

  • Acting as Asset Strategy team VP supporting profitability monitoring, asset sales strategy, asset deployment, agency transfer negotiations, asset sales negotiation (alongside with LCM), due diligence support, and sales execution with LCM, DCM, OAD and external parties.
  • This is a client facing role and includes engagement with clients and marketing teams across EMEA.
  • Jointly with Planning team in Planning Unit, supporting ISD’s asset control through, amongst others, optimised asset deployment and sales strategy engaged with marketing teams and EMG in ISD

 

Background

  • ISD owns and operates more than USD 34bn funded assets, and USD 14bn commitments in structured finance in EMEA and corporate finance in CEEMEA.
  • Especially in structured finance, improvement of ROE is an urgent requirement, through asset optimisation.
  • It also involves derivative asset sales and agent transfer process with communicating with several relevant departments and external parties.
  • Internally, the role will, amongst others, interface with various other departments in EMEA branches across the regions and other global divisions.

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  1. Asset optimisation and asset sales promotion
  • Support the creation and coordination of asset optimisation and asset sales strategy to optimise ISD’s portfolio especially in structured finance assets with focus on costs, RWA to improve ROE, and other key parameters such as FE, renewable and etc.
  • Manage asset sales list to communicate with LCM to approach potential investors.
  • Diversify asset sales channels including structured sales solutions.
  • Leading due diligence process through Q&A with investors jointly with asset owner’s teams and EMG.
  • Execution of sales process with LCM and OAD.

 

  1. Portfolio quality
  • Closely monitor entire assets to avoid significant asset deterioration risk by controlling assets at the best timing in coordination with Control Unit.
  • Early involvement in asset control through early stage discussions before finance close to create asset strategy, including primary stage take-and-hold strategy.
  • Take control of portfolio with monitoring balanced allocation of assets.

  • Closely monitoring entire asset pipeline against asset guideline with Planning team
  • Actively engage with controlling assets in a timely manner to avoid any breaches to the guideline

 

In all these functions, the scope contains the provision of information to clients on SMFG products and services, including investment products. It also includes Client Dealing.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and data management and data analysis skills
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, etc.) with analytical experience of data and business intelligence / management dashboard skills (Power BI, etc.).
  • Communication skills to work with different teams/departments and coordinate working groups on various initiatives.
  • Understanding capital market products including derivatives, DCM, and securitizations to diversify the sales channel.
  • Experience in structured capital solutions (CLO, Synthetic Risk Transfer etc.)
  • Knowledge and insight of infrastructure finance assets and their nature and risk, in each sector and geographic area, and characteristics of the portfolio, would be a plus but is not a requirement.
