Role Summary
- The role is positioned within the Cross Functional Unit of the Diversified Industries vertical within the Trade & Working Capital Solutions Team and is not assigned to specific sector. Instead, the role focuses on supporting strategic growth initiatives—including but not limited to Transaction Banking and the Pan Indian Ocean Rim initiatives
- Support on origination and execution of new GTFD deal opportunities within the diversified industries vertical. This will include the preparation of marketing material, review and analysis of information including customer financial statements and due diligence, transaction summaries and credit application drafting, and some legal documentation review.
- Research into client needs (including supply chain analysis from financial statements, trade flows research, etc.), and trade finance strategic business development initiatives in EMEA and globally.

The role sits within the Global Trade Finance Department (GTFD) in London, within the diversified industries vertical of the Trade & Working Capital Solution Team
Position Description
Generally this role provides support to Executive Directors, Directors and Vice Presidents level employees running transactions, both on analysis and administration tasks. There is some customer facing element to the role, including attending customer meetings, marketing and transaction execution.
- Support senior staff as part of deal teams in the marketing for, origination of, execution and post-closing management of transactions. This will include:
- Preparation of marketing material
- Review and analysis of information including customer financial statements and due diligence
- Transaction summaries
- Credit application drafting working with SMBC relationship teams
- Some legal documentation reviews
- Research into client needs (including supply chain analysis from financial statements, trade flows research, etc.), transaction banking, and trade finance strategic business development initiatives in EMEA and globally.
- Liaise with all relevant departments within EMEA required for marketing and execution including credit, OAD, CPD, legal, CIB, SFS and CM Pillars, OAD, FMD.
- Understanding the Bank’s internal procedures and processes and applying them correctly and in compliance with all rules and regulations.
- Working on asset and portfolio management, and other areas of GTFD’s wider business as requested.
- Some exposure to team management responsibilities by contributing to senior management initiatives.
- Compliance with all bank policies and procedures, including full personal accountability for timely completion of training, CPD, etc.
- Support in the promotion of GTFD’s O&D and risk mitigation strategy for transactions.
- Provide information to clients on SMFG products and services, including investment products.
