Role Summary
The role involves providing technical oversight and support for the organisation’s Cisco Unified Communications systems, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom platforms.
Key responsibilities include proactively monitoring and enhancing the telephony and collaboration environment, ensuring compliance and security standards are met, and evaluating security threats to implement appropriate patching.
The Engineer contributes to developing global Unified Communications standards, maintains accurate technical documentation, and integrates automation where beneficial. The role requires strong collaboration across IT teams globally, acting as an escalation point for out‑of‑hours issues, mentoring junior team members, and supporting datacentre visits when needed.
They work closely with the architecture team to recommend improvements, manage hardware and software lifecycles to avoid end‑of‑life risks, and remain flexible to work unsociable hours. Continuous technical skill development is also expected.
Business Area
The Engineer holds technical ownership of key components within the organisation’s Unified Communications platform, acting as the subject matter expert and escalation point for major system issues. They lead and contribute to global IT projects, managing technical resources, planning tasks, and defining standards, policies, and documentation needed to operate and maintain the platforms.
The role requires strong collaboration across teams and regions, as well as effective vendor management on behalf of PD‑ITSD. As a core member of the Telephony and Collaboration team, the Engineer oversees the implementation and lifecycle management of critical infrastructure, including Cisco Unified Call Manager, Cisco Webex Collaboration Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Position Description
The candidate has strong expertise in Cisco Unified Communications and Collaboration technologies, Microsoft Teams (meetings, calling, and video), and a solid understanding of Zoom’s enterprise services. They have experience managing compliant recording environments and supporting complementary UC tools such as voicemail and call‑logging systems.
They are skilled in VoIP technologies, including troubleshooting and managing Session Border Controllers and working with telecom carriers. They also have experience integrating Cisco UC with Microsoft Teams, along with good knowledge of Cisco networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS), storage technologies, and an understanding of trader voice environments.
