Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Modeller (Director) to lead the EMEA Data Modelling function within Data Architecture team who would be accountable and responsible for establishing the Data Modelling function for EMEA, while supporting the globalisation of Enterprise Data Models. The successful candidate will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to assess, develop and drive adoption of enterprise conceptual and logical data models. This role requires strong data modelling expertise, a clear understanding of how to implement models across large banking and financial services.
The organisation is developing a data platform to act as the single source for data distribution, aligned to a medallion architecture. The Silver layer will be structured around data domains and sub-domains, with data represented in third normal form. This role will lead the development of conceptual and logical data models for the Silver layer and, where applicable, the Gold layer, including mapping to the Business Information Model in line with the Data Modelling Policy.

Position Description
- Mobilise and roll out Data Modelling Function: Create the required organisation structure and operating model to support Enterprise Data modelling for EMEA
- Drive Adoption regionally and globally: Drive the use of enterprise Data Models locally and regionally across Business, IT and Data teams. Work with Data owners actively to achieve this.
- Drive Distribution Patterns: Drive the use of Enterprise Data models for silver, gold layers in the Data platform, conceptualise data products
- Business engagement and Analysis: Work with Data office SMEs and Business stakeholders to assess business processes and structures. Responsible to identify the similarities of data across different applications for similar data concepts and document the findings.
- Data Understanding and Communication: Use the data model as a common language between business stakeholders, data professionals, and IT teams. Provide a visual representation of how data elements relate to each other, allowing stakeholders to understand and discuss data requirements, definitions, and rules. With a clear and shared understanding of the data model, teams can collaborate effectively, aligning business needs with data and in turn its implementation.
- Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure that the model is controlled, and decisions are captured through the forum. Work with the other areas of the bank to standardise where possible. Represent the EMEA
- Division ensuring that our idea, needs and requirements are incorporated. To champion the use of the data model in strategic initiatives like ECB, BCBS239, CLM, Enterprise Data platform etc.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in:
- Building Enterprise data modelling functions across Banks and financial service organisations
- Conceptualisation and Development of Enterprise Data Models
- Use Modelling Tools (like Erwin, ER studio, IDA etc)
- Creation and driving agreements on operating model for data models i.e. development, roll out and use across IT, Business and Data teams
- Enable the function to do Model development and release management
- Develop Data Modelling skills within the team and deliver Enterprise data models to strategic programs and data domains
- Practically use these models to support
- Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Analytics
- IT development and delivery
- Business requirements and data products
- Good knowledge of Industry standards and models for Banking and Financial Services like (BIAN , BFMDW, FSLDM, BIRD etc)
- Experience in integrating Enterprise Data Models with Data governance tooling (Collibra etc)
Desirable:
- Physical data modelling concepts or experience
- Ability to use Microsoft office, JIRA or Service Now and other Project Management tools
