Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Vice President – Technical Analyst (Financial Crime) for our IT FinCrime team to join our team.
This role is pivotal in delivering strategic FinCrime technology projects, supporting sanctions screening systems, and ensuring regulatory compliance through technical excellence.
Essentials of the Role:
- Lead the technical roadmap and delivery of FinCrime systems aligned with regulatory and business goals.
- Provide 3LoD BAU support and drive operational excellence across sanctions applications.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Operations, and global stakeholders to translate regulatory needs into technical solutions.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong experience in IT roles within financial services, and more recently in Financial Crime or compliance-related functions.
- Hands-on experience with FircoSoft Trust and Continuity, SQL data analysis, and Linux scripting.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; CAMS, PMP, or ITIL certifications are a plus.

The IT FinCrime team sits within the broader Operations and IT Services Division (OPPD / ITSD) and plays a critical role in ensuring SMBC Group’s compliance with global financial crime regulations. This specialized team supports sanctions screening systems, delivers strategic transformation projects, and partners closely with Compliance and Operations to embed regulatory requirements into technical solutions.

The Vice President – Technical Analyst (Financial Crime) plays a key role in SMBC Group’s IT FinCrime team, supporting the delivery of strategic transformation projects and ensuring compliance with global sanctions regulations. This role involves leading technical initiatives, supporting sanctions screening systems, and collaborating with Compliance and Operations to embed regulatory requirements into IT solutions.
Key responsibilities include defining the technical roadmap for FinCrime systems, providing 3LoD BAU support for sanctions applications, and overseeing system upgrades and vendor evaluations. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion for regulatory excellence.
