Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a DIRECTOR, STATISTICAL REPORTING AND CHANGE in REGULATORY REPORTING to join our team. 

The role covers the ownership of statistical reportng for multiple entities in the UK. The successful candidate will also act as a point of contact for all regulatory reporting changes and manage the regulatory reporting team's interaction with the Bank's New Product review and approval process. 

Experience in a similar role in financial control or risk management in a peer bank is essential. You must be able to work with a variety of demanding stakeholders and deliver to deadlines, at times under pressure. A demonstrable track record in technical work (regulatory rules preferred) is also requirement, as is experience leading people. 

Candidate requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent and post-graduate qualification in FInance, Accountacy, Treasury or Risk related disciplines
  • Extensive industry experience and technical knowledge
  • Experience in delivering change and owning processes, work product and outcomes

Business Area

The EMEA region comprises numerous SMBC branches, and separate legal entities in London and Frankfurt.  Each entity has multiple regulatory reporting requirements

In the UK, SMBC BI, CM Ltd. and SMBC London branch are required to submit regular prudential, statistical and risk-related reports to local regulators (PRA, FCA and Bank of England).  These cover a variety of reporting disciplines including balance sheet, Liquidity, Credit Risk and Large exposures.  In addition to external reporting the Bank must also monitor key ratios on a daily basis, and the reporting includes COREP (including Own Funds, Large Exposures and Liquidity submissions), Pillar 3, PRA/FCA Prudential and Bank of England Statistical Returns.  

Position Description

  • Managing regulatory change programmes within Regulatory Reporting RTB team – act as a key contact and drive the change strategy from the RTB team, representing the team in Change programmes
  • Report owner for statistical reporting for UK entities (SMBC BI and SMBC London Branch)
  • Managing the Regulatory Reporting team’s interaction with New Product review and approval – manage the pipeline with business and functional stakeholders, collaborate with SMEs in the Regulatory Reporting team to deliver business outcomes and solutions aligned to the regional strategy
