Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Securitised Product VP for Capital Solutions EMEA to join our team.

To lead the maintenance, development and execution of structured lending programs and other capital solutions transactions, as well as new product initiatives across EMEA.

 

To take ownership of risk and return analysis and coordinate internal approval for new products and amendments to existing products within the capital solutions and structured lending toolkit, including providing clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.

 

Essentials of Role:

  1. Structuring: Lead the negotiation and review of relevant financing documentation, including discussions with partners, internal/external legal, other external advisors and investors, escalating key issues and recommending solutions as appropriate.
  2. Client Relationships: Support and develop client relationships with private credit participants, contributing to origination and distribution strategy and helping expand the bank’s pipeline of capital solutions opportunities.
  3. Execution: Manage deal-related negotiations, investor and client marketing, internal approvals, profitability analysis (RWA, ROE etc), execution workstreams and project management for capital solutions transactions and structured programs.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Credit: Good experience of corporate, fund finance, securitisation, leveraged finance and/or structured finance preferred. Strong background in financial modelling. Good experience of corporate finance, internal grading models and systems, credit and risk assessment, regulatory capital and associated profitability modelling, syndication and market risk preferred. Advanced analytical skills, critical thinking and the ability to make recommendations based on analysis. Good experience of the interplay between credit risk and documentation/structuring.
  2. Execution: Proven experience of capital solutions transactions or joint ventures with private credit participants, including transactions across different geographies (mostly EMEA), sectors, transaction types and vintages. Experience of managing deal teams and coordinating cross-functional workstreams.
  3. Deal Management: Strong networking skills and ability to communicate clearly, exercise judgement and work effectively with front office origination teams and related departments (eg credit, finance, operations and tax), including leading discussions and driving issues to resolution.

Business Area

The Capital Solutions team has been established to originate, evaluate and execute structured transactions relating to legacy SMBC portfolio sales and SRTs, client partnerships, joint ventures, forward flow arrangements, credit intermediation for portfolios, and similar structures

The Capital Solutions team is responsible for all transactions across EMEA which are structured credit securitizations, structured to optimize the Bank’s balance sheet or capital efficiency, involve capital intermediation, portfolio sales, purchases and/or intermediation, joint ventures, partnerships, use of credit risk insurance, Bank asset off-take arrangements, have asset management features, have aspects of synthetic risk transfer and/or are structured to provide funded asset/commitment line relief for the Bank.
