Role Summary

Structured Finance Department (SFD) is looking for a Executive Director for the purposes of: 

  1. Acting as the leadership member of Asset Distribution Platform for developing asset distribution strategy with deep understanding of infrastructure assets, investors’ appetite, structured solutions, market liquidity.
  2. Developing and executing high-velocity asset recycling to distribute assets with targeted investors after finance close under originate to distribute business model.
  3. Creating new distribution channels in collaboration with financial sponsors, institutional investors or via capital markets to expand secondary distribution capability for primarily funded asset control, secondarily risk weighted asset control
  4. Working together with Asset Control team as well as Planning team to control entire assets efficiently

Business Area

  1. SFD owns and operates 20bn+ exposure in structured finance assets in multiple sectors across EMEA region. 20 – 30% of the portfolio is recycled by secondary distributions or other framework.
  2. Under the originate to distribute model, immediate and efficient asset distributions are fundamental requirements to improve ROE and control the asset within guidelines.
  3. With understanding entire portfolio as well as individual asset, efficient distribution is required by approaching right investors with understanding of appetite.

 

Position Description

The position's responsibility includes following area:

  1. Distribution platform and its strategy
  • Create asset distribution platform strategy to optimise SFD’s portfolio with focus on costs efficiency, ROE, ROFA etc. mainly focus on FA control
  • Optimising asset efficiency for ROE improvement with hands on analysis of portfolio and understanding of SFD’s business
  1. Platform creation
  • Diversify asset sales channels including structured sales solutions, co-lending platform, alternative AM, or optimisation of RWA via SRT / back leverage / CRI for a short-term and mid-term.
  • Review individual assets in detail for any asset sales restrictions, derivative, min hold etc. and guide LCM and SFD teams to make appropriate sales under the restrictions
  1. Platform execution
  • Approach to potential investors with supported by relevant coverage teams as well as capital solution team to cement the idea, and execution
  • Leading platform execution as the lead in SFD with relevant teams (like LCM, capital solutions, sponsor coverage), RfP distribution, client negotiation, internal stakeholders management, involvement in decision making process with feeding information, documentation, new product approval (if necessary), etc.

 

In all these functions, the scope contains the provision of information to clients on SMFG products and services, including investment products. It also includes Client Dealing.

 

It is also expected that a candidate has following skillset, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge and insight of SFD’s assets and their nature and risk, in each sector and geographic area, and characteristics of the portfolio.
  • Understanding capital market products including derivatives, DCM, and securitizations to diversify the sales channel.
  • Understanding of diversified investors appetite with having close networking channels to develop the distribution ideas with deep understanding of the appetite
  • Highest levels of communication skills to cooperate with various stakeholders and SFD management to promote multiple asset distribution initiatives
  • Management skills to work with different teams/departments and coordinate working groups on various initiatives.
