Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a AVP to join our Regulatory Reporting team in Finance.
Essential requirements for the role:
- Daily monitoring, investigation, and resolution of large exposure limit excesses.
- Management of large exposure communications, approvals, and group collateral reporting processes.
- Support for regulatory reporting, including COREP large exposure submissions and senior management reporting.
Candidate Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of UK/EU large exposure regulations and experience producing COREP large exposure reporting (COR002).
- Strong analytical skills with experience handling large financial and risk datasets using Excel, Power BI, and preferably SQL.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex risk and financial information to senior management.
Business Area
Strategic Planning Department (STPD) – Finance & Control – Regulatory Reporting
Regulatory Reporting team in London consists of approximately 16 staff, including consultants and interns.
The Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for the production of prudential, statistical and risk-related regulatory returns submitted to the PRA, FCA and Bank of England, as well as the daily monitoring of capital, liquidity and large exposure metrics. The team also supports key regulatory processes including COREP, Pillar 3, ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery & Resolution Planning (RRP).
Key stakeholders which the team work closely with include:
- Senior Management – Present management information to support oversight responsibilities
- STPD Planning – Collaborate around Front Office communications, monitoring approved commitments and pipeline of future transactions
- RMD – Coordinate approvals for internal limit excesses and advice on regulatory large exposure methodology
- OAD – Provide SME advice on appropriateness of booking processes
- IT – Interaction on change programmes and BAU production support
- Compliance and PD Legal – Interactions with the regulator and compliance with legal requirements
- Front Office and Credit Department – SME advice on regulatory large exposure requirements associated with individual transactions
Position Description
The roles requires the person to do the following:
- Daily large exposure monitoring process, associated investigations and resolution of potential internal or external limit breaches.
- Intraday large exposure monitoring
- Management of the daily group collateral process including associated investigations and adjustments
- Support the preparation of quarterly COREP reports related to credit risk and large exposures.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
• Industry experience in working for a comparable institution required
• Expert knowledge of regulatory large exposure rules and reporting requirements under the UK / European Capital Requirements Regulation required
• Experience in producing regulatory large exposure reporting (COREP COR002) required
• Knowledge and exposure to banking and capital markets products from credit risk and large exposure perspective required
• Strong communication and influencing skills required.
• Proven ability to work with large amounts of financial and risk data required
• Strong experience in delivering financial or risk reports under pressure without compromising on accuracy and attention to detail required
• Proven experience in condensing complex risk and financial data into reports for senior management consumption required
• Experience in communicating complex change requirements to key stakeholders required
• Expert at working with MS Excel and PowerBI required
• Knowledge on programming including SQL preferred
• Strong numerical and financial skills required
