Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Regulatory Policy VP to join our Finance Regulatory Reporting team.

The role is to support the EMEA Head of Regulatory Policy to maintain the prudential regulatory policy framework across the EMEA region and promote an appropriate consistency of policy decisions, with a primary focus on regulatory interpretation on prudential matters relevant to Finance.  

Accountabilities and Responsbilities

Support the EMEA Head of Regulatory Policy in maintaining the Regulatory Interpretations Policy and compliance with the policy, including the efficient running of the Interpretation Forum and associated processes and ensuring appropriate consistency of policy decisions within EMEA.

Support the initial analysis and dissemination of the regulatory development items to the respective stakeholders.

Provide policy analysis and support on the implication of new products to the Regulatory Reporting teams and other policy support as and when required.

Skills/Experience Required

•            Batchelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as Economics, Finance, Accountancy or Risk related discipline

•            Excellent prudential regulatory knowledge with experience in prudential policy related role(s)

•            Strong history of managing stakeholders at various levels including front offices

•            Extensive knowledge of and exposure to banking and capital markets products

•            Proven ability to analyse, understand and articulate complex technical problems and to develop high value propositions

•            Strong external network for market intelligence

Business Area

The policy role covers all functional prudential related regulatory reporting teams as well as related Risk activities.

 

The primary entities in scope are: SMBC Bank International plc (SMBC BI), SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Limited and SMBC Bank EU AG group, including its Luxembourg subsidiary.

 

Branches of Tokyo based SMBC in scope are located in London, Brussels, Dubai, and Düsseldorf.

The role covers prudential requirements at a UK-level, as well as at an EU-level for banks (mainly CRR and similar) and investment firms (mainly IFPR and similar).

Position Description

The duties of this role cover prudential policy across EMEA for the Regulatory Reporting teams and other impacted departments.  The role reports into the EMEA Head of Regulatory Policy and involves close co-operation with Risk, Planning, Compliance and Legal, as well as local Finance departments.
