Role Summary

We are looking for a Regulatory Change & Compliance Risk Coordinator (AVP) to join our Compliance Department!

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape SMBC’s UK compliance program at a critical point of change. We are seeking an individual to bring best practice and regulatory expertise and insights to an evolving compliance program. 

About this role:

As part of SMBC’s compliance transformation program, we are implementing end-to-end mapping and traceability across our regulatory obligations. This role will support compliance team members with identification, assessment and mapping of both new and existing regulatory change. 

The role will enable you to:

  • Oversee, assess, analyse and implement existing regulatory requirements and future regulatory change
  • Develop and manage a robust compliance framework across our suite of regulatory obligations
  • Produce detailed MI and liaise with senior stakeholders across SMBC
  • Deliver complex cross-functional regulatory obligations to support a growing business
  • Work across multiple different compliance projects

Experience

For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:

  • Experience of assessing and implementing regulatory change, or working within compliance risk management, compliance frameworks, or compliance advisory roles (investment banking preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills across departments, as well as managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver tasks, projects, and assignments on time and to a high standard
  • Strong experience of producing comprehensive compliance MI for governance forums and senior management
  • Experience of liaising with senior stakeholders on regulatory change obligations
  • Able to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Must be detail orientated, analytical and inquisitive
  • Evidence of innovative thinking and problem-solving
  • Practical and willing to take responsibility to ensure objectives are achieved

 

This role requires the ability to absorb complex subject matter rapidly and not be afraid to ask questions to ensure clarity and accuracy

Position Description

Working in the Policy & Governance team, you will be responsible for, inter alia:

  • Oversight for the identification and assessment of regulatory change
  • Mapping of regulation and change events to Subject Matter Experts and other relevant stakeholders across the Bank
  • Ensuring our Compliance Obligations Register is maintained, updated, and accurate
  • Producing relevant Management Information (“MI”) for compliance governance forums
  • Attending and participating at compliance governance forums
  • Overseeing and maintaining regulatory compliance horizon scanning documents
  • Working across multiple projects in an oversight and advisory capacity
