Portfolio Services Analyst
This role will be reporting into the Lead Portfolio Manager in the London Office. Supporting the Investment Team with the implementation, maintainence and reporting of their investment strategy.
The Portfolio Services Analyst will be joining the Investment Management Department assisting with both Portfolio Services and Corporate Actions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow, as the responsibilities will evolve over the first twelve months to include trading assistant responsibilities. As the business implements a new system, the Portfolio Services Analyst will play a key role in this transition.
Core tasks will be:
- To ensure that the instructions given by Portfolio Managers (“PMs”) are accurately modeled into live orders and comply with compliance and portfolio guidelines.
- To provide up to date and accurate information with respect to the portfolios as and when requested.
- Translating PMs’ instructions into live orders (order modelling) and placing such trades on the Traders’ blotter.
Investment Management Department
This role will be reporting to the Lead Portfolio Manager in the London Office.
It is a newly created position to support an investment team that are transfering into the business, and so will be a chance to help shape the investment operations of the London office and grow with it.
Position Description
Key responsibilities:
Porfolio Services:
- To ensure that the instructions given by Portfolio Managers (“PMs”) are accurately modeled into live orders and comply with compliance and portfolio guidelines.
- To provide up to date and accurate information with respect to the portfolios as and when requested.
- Translating PMs’ instructions into live orders (order modelling) and placing such trades on the Traders’ blotter.
- Ensuring that orders undergo pre-trade integrity checks (pre-trade compliance checking).
- Ensuring that portfolios adhere to all relevant guidelines including cash limits.
- Ensuring that the PMs’ instructions are accurately recorded and instructed with clear and adequate rationales prior to modelling.
- Ensuring every order satisfies the investment restrictions prior to placing on the Traders’ blotter.
- Ensuring that orders are accurately reflected in the order management system.
- Advising PMs about portfolio adherence with guidelines and cash flow in particular.
- Notifying the Compliance and Legal teams of guideline breaches (or modelling errors) when they occur.
- Maintaining up to date regulatory and risk management awareness, particularly with respect to portfolio guidelines breaches and the risk of erroneous trades and potential client losses incurred as a result of incorrect modelling of instructions.
Middle Office and Corporate Actions:
- Collating and processing all types of Corporate Events including DRIPs, Optional Dividends, Bonus Issues, Stock Splits, Rights Issues, Open Offers, Priority Offers, Mandatory Stock Dividends, Mergers, Tender Offers, Spin Offs, Demergers.
- Liaising with Portfolio Managers internally and liaising with Custodians and Brokers to elect on Events and help resolve any trading issues/fails.
- Proxy Voting for the Manager’s Pooled and Managed Funds.
- Middle Office tasks including static data management, setting up new instruments & new client accounts in the Manager’s systems.
