Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a VP Business Manager for the Risk Solutions Group, working with the team head on a broad variety of run-the-business tasks and new initiatives.

  • The RSG team is responsible for marketing derivative solutions for Corporate, Sponsor and Institutional clients to address Risk Management, Hedging, Event-Driven and other strategic needs, across Interest rates, FX and Inflation
  • The team comprises around 30 people across Origination, Structuring, Planning and Control. The team is based in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid and Dubai
  • The RSG team is part of the Sales and Trading Vertical, but sits away from the global Markets trading floor and on the private side to better interact with the bank Relationship Managers and other products such and DCM and LCM

 

Key Stakeholders:  The head of RSG, other senior members of RSG, and the control offices in the 3 verticals

Business Area

The RSG team contributes $50-100m of revenue for the bank and is a key contributor to the Sales and Trading Vertical business strategy

 

Furthermore the Firm is pursuing a global strategy for the derivative product, requiring coordination between multiple regions

Position Description

Reponsibilities will include:

  • P/L management and monitoring
  • Producing MI for management presentations
  • Management of pipeline and results reporting
  • Coordination of New Product Approvals with other stakeholders
  • Development and management of key KPIs and other metrics for the team
  • Management of HR processes; new joiners, graduate and intern programmes alongside S&T stakeholders
  • Working with the Control office on policies and procedures, and optimising internal processes
  • Liaison with IT for new systems, upgrades and representing the business requirements
  • Preparation of high level materials for senior management, Townhalls, conferences etc
  • Collaboration and coordination with business managers in other products (e.g. DCM) and other regions (e.g. RSG NY)

 

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to analyse highly complex financial data and large volumes of information and derive the best possible solution.
  • Knowledge of derivative products, a good understanding of marketing best practices and client coverage, and ability to analyse financial accounts
  • Strong communication skills and adept at establishing professional credibility at all levels with the ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders in order to develop the business.
  • Strong levels of business understanding and commercial acumen.
  • Confidence to work on their own initiative, challenge the status quo and be innovative in seeking new ways of doing things and developing the business.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach and is results-driven.
  • A degree of flexibility is expected in working the hours that the business demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members in providing support and sharing information and knowledge.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and follow a sound and rational decision-making process.Confidence and skills to influence and negotiate at all levels.
  • Excellent degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
