Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an AVP FO Credit Analyst for Corportate Banking Dept 2 to join our team. 

  • The role of the Front Office Credit Analyst exists to manage the banks assets within its own risk management framework in compliance with all external regulation, helping to protect the bank from losses resulting from customer defaults. 
  • The FO Credit Analyst upholds the first line of defence for the credit risk management of a portfolio of new and existing corporate customers, in line with the banks policy and procedures. 
  • Conducts the review of corporate credit risk and recommends accurate obligor and facility grades, so that the bank can allocate the correct amount of regulatory capital for Basel purposes.

Business Area

  • CBD2 EMEA has around 240 customer groups for which FO Credit monitor the credit risk of about USD50bn of assets.
  • Portfolio covers Western European Corporates.

Position Description

The primary role of the FO Credit Analyst is to uphold the first list of defence so that the banks risk and its assets are managed in line with procedures at all times.

  • Primary products cover vanilla Syndicated and Bi-Lateral Loans (inc M&A), Derivatives (Swaps, FX), Trade Finance Services and Leasing.
  • Assists the Coverage team with new and existing transactions including structuring, and negotiating credit analysis, documentation review.
  • Participates in Request for Consideration meetings to assess new pipeline business and presents credit opinion to the General Manager.
  • Liaises with appropriate stakeholders including Loan Capital Markets, Nikko, Loan Syndications, Global Trade Finance and Corporate Research Depts and Corporate Solutions Group.
  • Prepares credit applications for submission to Credit Department to include detailed quantative and qualitative analysis of the credit risk of an obligor, including forward looking projections, and transaction analysis.
  • Responsible for the continuous monitoring of an assigned portfolio of corporate credit customers, taking timely actions if there is any deterioration in the banks risk, including working on Special Credits.
