Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Vice President - NDF Trader for Financial Markets Department (FMD) London to join our team.
This role is responsible for leading and executing NDF (Non-Deliverable Forward) transactions, contributing to the strategic growth and profitability of the FX business. The VP will play a key role in market-making, client coverage, and risk management, while actively collaborating with internal stakeholders across sales, risk, operations, and eFX development.
Essentials of the role:
- To execute and manage NDF trades with institutional clients and interbank counterparties.
- To lead initiatives to enhance product offerings and trading infrastructure.
- To work closely with FMD Planning and Control teams on business management and reporting
Candidate requirements:
- Extensive experience in FX trading, with a strong focus on NDF products.
- Deep understanding of emerging market currencies and related risks.
- Proven ability to manage trading books and contribute to P&L.

We are currently recruiting for a newly created NDF trader position to strengthen our coverage and execution capabilities.
Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- To contribute actively to the development and execution of FMD London’s trading strategy, with a focus on market positioning and revenue generation.
- To build strong working relationships with internal sales teams to support client coverage, pricing, and execution.
- To identify and implement new trading approaches, services, and tools to strengthen market-making capabilities and competitiveness.
- To execute trades, manage risk and positions, and provide pricing with accuracy and speed as part of front-line trading operations.
- To collaborate closely with fellow traders to coordinate positions, share market intelligence, and respond effectively to market developments.
- To monitor market news and economic indicators in real time and incorporate insights into trading decisions.
- To support sales team in communicating market views and trade ideas to clients, helping generate opportunities and deepen engagement.
- To propose improvements to trading systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
