Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Director EM Credit Sales for our Credit Group to join our team!

  • To lead in the development of the EM sales desk and grow a meaningful client base across the EMEA region with a focus on UK Real Money/Hedge Funds and US accounts
  • Develop and nurture new and existing relationships with your clients to discuss current and future business challenges, opportunities and product requirements.  Ensure that pertinent information is shared with the traders, members of DCM and Management where appropriate
  • Identify client trends and themes and keep management and peers abreast of changing landscapes

 

Business Area

Emerging Markets is a core offering within fixed income both in EMEA and globally. It is also a key area for investment by SMBC BI.

EM Sales and Trading help distribute primary transactions for DCM and provide liquidity to our clients in secondary markets.

Position Description

About this role:

  • Emerging Markets is a core offering within fixed income both in EMEA and globally. It is also a key area for investment by SMBC BI.
  • EM Sales and Trading help distribute primary transactions for DCM and provide liquidity to our clients in secondary markets.
  • Contribute positively to the trading P&L in SMBC BI

Our role will enable you to:

  • Work closely with all members of the team to identify key clients and where appropriate arrange and attend client visits
  • Work closely with Risk and Compliance teams, particularly regarding new account opening and KYC
  • Focus on generating and developing new client relationships through the assessment of customer need and the overall opportunity to strengthen the partnership to ultimately become a trusted advisor to the account
  • Work with trading to create sustainably profitable relationships with your clients where the focus is on quality of business over quantity
  • Maintain a balance between good margin profit and other trades beneficial to the company
