Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Financial Crime Regulatory Change VP for our Compliance Department to join our team!

This role is an exciting opportunity to help shape SMBC’s EMEA compliance program at a critical point of change. We are seeking an individual to bring best practices and their regulatory expertise and insights to an evolving compliance program.  

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Identification and assessment of financial crime regulatory change
  • Mapping of regulatory obligations to SMBC’s policies, standards and procedures
  • Supporting the successful and sustainable implementation of new and existing financial crime regulatory requirements across the Bank

 

For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience assessing and implementing financial crime risk regulatory change, including the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, actionable recommendations that support effective risk management
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills

Position Description

About this role:

As part of SMBC‘s compliance transformation program we are implementing end-to-end mapping and traceability across our regulatory obligations. This role will lead on the identification, assessment and mapping of both new and current regulatory change.

Your stakeholders will include EMEA senior management, colleagues across the first line and other control and support functions.

Our role will enable you to:

  • Assess, analyse and implement existing financial crime risk regulatory requirements and future regulatory change
  • Support the development of a robust financial crime risk framework
  • Deliver complex, cross-jurisdictional and cross-functional regulatory obligations across EMEA, supporting a dynamic and growing business.

 

What will you bring to the role?

  • Demonstrated experience assessing and implementing regulatory change, or working within financial crime risk management framework (e.g. policy writing, controls testing, risk assessment)
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed deadlines.
