Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Officer to join our OAD Execution Lending team.
As a Senior Quality Assurance Officer, you will undertake the operational validation and quality control of loan products across the bank’s commercial lending portfolio. You will ensure that all loan documentation, structures, and processes meet internal standards and are booked accurately in our lending systems. This role demands a high level of expertise in loan documentation, local and head office procedures, and process improvement, with a strong focus on training and driving continuous improvement.
You will have a minimum of 5 years commercial banking experience and in-depth knowledge of lending products.
Position Description
- The function of this role is to retrospectively sample check the work undertaken by Execution Control team, who are responsible for creating new loan agreements within Loan IQ along with the Loan Administration team, who are responsible for the ongoing servicing of the loan portfolio in Loan IQ.
- The QA function will check the work completed by Execution Control and Loan Administration teams on a sample of files. This will include, but not limited to, Loan IQ data fields that have a material impact in respect of internal and external reporting, credit discrepancies and customer impact. GBR Control Card - Status, Document List, Ancillary Items and Guarantees.
- An assessment of exceptional handling to ensure appropriate approvals have been obtained.
- Provide MI and feedback on the quality of Execution Control and Loan Administration teams within the BAU functions, with recommendations for intervention where required.
- On an ongoing basis, identify training needs to address performance weaknesses or new processes and procedures.
- The role will include identifying and recommending best practice and standardisation opportunities, which requires an understanding of head office and local procedures.
- In addition to their own quality assurance checking activities, they will be expected to guide, mentor and educate team members across the OAD Lending Group.
- There will be daily interaction with Section Managers to establish and maintain an optimum approach to quality assurance such as confirmation of procedures, reviewing sample size (incidents may drive changes to sample size by location or Front office team).
OAD Execution Control
- The role is designed to improve the control within the Bank, by sample checking the work of the Execution Control and Loan Administration teams responsible for onboarding new loan agreements and loan servicing, using a risk-based approach.
- Develop and maintain QA frameworks, checklists and validation protocols.
- Provide both direct and thematic feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Identify root cause systematic issues and recommend improvement initiatives such as additional training or changes to processes or procedure documentation.
- The role will also support the annual external audit requirements under KPMG and JSOX by supplying walkthroughs, sampling evidence and timely responses to queries.
