Role Summary
Deliver high-quality Trade Management Control activities, ensuring the completeness, accuracy and integrity of trade, pricing, valuation and market data.
Support efficient front-to-back processing for Financial Markets business alongside broader Trade Management Control responsibilities, through oversight of the trade lifecycle, execution of key controls, timely resolution of exceptions and effective collaboration with Front Office, Finance & Control, Operations, Risk and Technology teams.
Contribute to a strong control environment through accurate execution of processes, effective risk management and continuous improvement of operational practices.
Business Area
The role sits within the Markets & Trade Management Group (MTMG), supporting Trade Management Control processes and a range of Financial Markets activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with Front Office, Finance & Control, Market Risk, Operations, Treasury, Technology and COO teams to support effective pricing and valuation controls, trade lifecycle management and front-to-back operational oversight.
Operating within a global markets environment, the role contributes to operational stability, data integrity, process standardisation and a strong control culture.
Scale and Scope
Geographic Scope: London-based role operating within an EMEA and global markets organisation, with regular interaction across regional and global functions.
Portfolio / Process Volume: Supports Trade Management Control processes and high-volume Financial Markets activities directly contributing to operational stability, client delivery, revenue enablement and risk mitigation.
Financial Exposure: No direct budget responsibility. The role supports controls over market data, pricing and valuation information associated with significant trading volumes and financial exposures.
Team Size / People Impact: Individual contributor within a broader integrated Middle Office team. Contributes to team consistency, knowledge sharing, process standardisation and support of less experienced colleagues where required.
Time Horizon: Focus on daily BAU delivery, T+0 and start/end-of-day controls, monthly reporting cycles, periodic control processes, exception management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Regulatory Impact: Activities are subject to PRA and FCA oversight, internal audit, Finance and Risk governance frameworks, and applicable regulatory requirements including EMIR and MiFID II.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
-Perform pricing and valuation controls through market data validation, price uploads, curve maintenance and investigation of valuation exceptions.
-Monitor trade, pricing and market data issues, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where appropriate.
-Investigate trade, valuation and reconciliation exceptions, performing root-cause analysis and coordinating remediation with relevant stakeholders.
-Perform lifecycle event management, exception monitoring and reconciliation activities across Financial Markets products and processes, primarily supporting FX and Money Market businesses.
-Produce management information, control reporting and analysis to support operational oversight and decision-making.
-Maintain effective control frameworks, ensuring all activities comply with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
-Maintain and enhance process documentation, desktop procedures and risk and control records.
-Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls and increase automation and straight-through processing.
-Build strong working relationships with Front Office, Finance & Control, Risk, Operations and Technology teams.
-Develop and maintain subject matter expertise across valuation controls, trade lifecycle processes, Financial Markets products and applicable regulatory requirements, with particular focus on FX and Money Market activities.
Position Description
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
-Experience within Middle Office, Trade Management, Finance & Control or a similar Financial Markets function.
-Understanding of pricing, valuation or market data control processes.
-Experience performing trade reconciliations, exception management and operational control activities.
-Understanding of Financial Markets products and trade lifecycle processes, including FX and Money Market products.
-Experience working within a robust control and governance framework.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently.
-Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
-Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
-Advanced Excel skills with experience producing MI, analysis and reporting.
Desirable:
-Experience supporting Product Control, valuation control or independent price verification processes.
-Knowledge of market data management, pricing methodologies and valuation controls.
-Experience using Bloomberg and other market data platforms to source pricing, market and reference data in support of trade management, valuation, control and investigation activities.
-Understanding of EMIR, MiFID II and broader Financial Markets regulatory requirements.
-Experience with Financial Markets trading, risk and post-trade systems.
-Experience of process improvement, automation and control enhancement initiatives.
-Experience with tools such as VBA, Power BI, Python or SQL.
-Relevant professional qualification or progress towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA or equivalent.
