Who we are

This is an exciting opportunity to join IT team at Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management (UK) Limited (“SMDAM UK”) a UK investment management firm.  SMDAM UK is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management Ltd, one of the largest investment management companies in Japan, offering discretionary investment management, investment trust and advisory services to a range of institutional investors, pension funds and government agencies worldwide.

The is a key hire in support of SMDAM’s plans to significantly expand its asset management activities outside of Japan over the next five years.   The role is for to support company’s expanding IT infrastructure, provide full user support and network/application administration.

Role Summary

As part of 3-person IT team, provide full user support and network/application administration

  • Co-manage the company’s IT infrastructure
  • Co-manage relationships with other stakeholders (Head Office, affiliated companies, vendors, partners
  • Support the business by ensuring the provision and availability of all IT resources.
  • Support the user base in troubleshooting, advising and educating. Innovate to improve efficiency and productivity across the technology infrastructure.
  • Work with the IT team and vendor partners in upgrades, security enhancements and new implementations, as well as fulfilling audit and regulatory responsibilities, both internal and external.
  • Co-manage a variable budget, up to £250,000 p.a.

Position Description

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain internal systems and applications to ensure maximum uptime for the business

  • Support all users to ensure IT infrastructure positively contributes to departments fulfilling their business objectives
  • Support remote access and hot-desk environment for expanding user numbers
  • Plan, prepare and implement system/application changes/upgrades/additions
  • Advise management on strategic technology issues/opportunities
  • Collaborate with partners to continually manage, monitor and improve security infrastructure

Essential skills:

  • Strong desktop support background, particularly Microsoft Windows/Office products, Office 365 resources, Adobe products, supporting users in person and remotely.
  • Experience of Sharepoint and Teams administration/support
  • Experience of supporting business systems and feeds – Bloomberg, Reuters Eikon, Salesforce
  • Support VC solutions (primarily Teams and Webex)
  • Support Apple business mobile handsets/accounts and Microsoft laptops, managed under MDM (Mobile Device Management) system
  • Windows network/server administration experience (AD, DHCP, DNS, GPO, WSUS, IIS)
  • Cyber security/BCP exposure
  • Ability to work closely with hardware/software/systems partners and vendors

Advantageous experience

  • Hyper-V
  • Some SQL (administration & management via SSMS, backups, queries, etc.)
  • Veeam backup & replication
  • Network topography
  • IT audit/controls experience
  • Relevant industry qualifications (MCP/MCSE/A+, etc.)
