Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Financial Crime Product Owner to join our Compliance Technology function. This new role forms a key part of the Compliance & Financial Crime Technology function, driving IT strategy, architecture and solutions design, roadmaps, delivery and enablement of IT solutions in a collaborative way together with other SMBC IT areas and third-party vendors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Product Ownership of EMEA Transaction Monitoring and Fraud platforms
- Leading business analysts, developers, IT infra and vendor staff delivering critical FinCrime IT solutions
- Stakeholder management of EMEA Financial Crime teams and associated functions
For you to succeed in the role, you will need to have:
- Strong experience in a similar technology management role in Commercial and Investment Banking Compliance and Regulatory IT domains
- Extensive knowledge of Financial Crime and Regulatory landscape across UK, EU and EMEA
- Experience in this domain specific technology and data architectures leveraging modern tools and data sourcing, transformation, analytics, workflow and reporting technologies
Business Area
The Compliance Technology function sits within the broader Operations and IT Services Division (OPPD / ITSD) and plays a critical role in ensuring SMBC Group’s compliance with global financial crime regulations. This specialized team supports multiple Compliance and Financial Crime Platforms, delivers strategic transformation projects, and partners closely with Compliance and Operations to embed regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
Position Description
- Product, Platform, Applications and Service Ownership of EMEA Transaction Monitoring and Fraud Platforms
- Domain Architecture & Solution Design for replacement of legacy and delivery of strategic Financial Crime platforms
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of technical experts, business analysts, and end-users
- Management of vendors and consultancies to enable successful delivery
- Development and executions of comprehensive delivery plans, including timelines, resources, budgets, issue and risk management
- Partner with business leaders, product owners, and technology teams to prioritize initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of high-impact solutions.
- Implementation of program stakeholder governance to oversee delivery, track and report progress, manage scope, issues, and risks
- Audit & Regulatory responses on behalf of IT associated with Financial Crime Technology
