Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Cross-Product Platforms Technology, this position is for an experienced Senior Technology Services Delivery Manager to lead SMBC EMEA Risk Management & Credit IT domains. The role holder is required to successfully drive IT strategy, architecture and solutions design, roadmaps, delivery and enablement of IT solutions in a collaborative way together with other SMBC IT and end-users areas, and third-party vendors, and play an active leadership role within EMEA Cross-Product Platforms Technology leadership team. Goals of this role include:

•    IT Solution Delivery and Service Ownership of Risk Management & Credit IT Systems
•    Leadership of Full System delivery life cycle of IT solutions design, build, test, implement
•    Delivery of IT architecture and solutions in partnership with other SMBC and vendor teams
•    Line management of IT staff directly responsible for delivery and support of IT platforms and applications enabling requirements of EMEA Market, Liquidity, Counterparty, Credit, Operational, and other Financial and Non-Financial Risk Management and Credit Departments
•    Stakeholder engagement of EMEA Risk Management & Credit departments receiving IT services and management of relationships with external third-party vendors and other internal SMBC IT teams involved in delivery and support of IT services to EMEA Risk Management & Credit Control domains

Candidates we are looking for will demonstrate:

•    15 + years of experience in similar engineering and technology management role leading Risk Management & Credit IT domains in Global Investment and Corporate Banks
•    Extensive knowledge of Risk, Credit & Regulatory Domain across EMEA and specifically ECB and UK regulations
•    Experience in Risk, Credit & Regulatory domain specific technology, data, analytics and reporting architectures
•    Experience managing complex vendor relationships and direct interaction with vendor software development and support teams responsible for modern and legacy financial regulatory reporting solutions
•    Experience in contract management and negotiation of contracts and statements of work for software licenses, support and professional services
•    Experience in managing portfolio and implementing in-house and vendor solutions on premise and on cloud including SaaS solutions
•    Experience in system integration to source and process data required to meet CRO requirements, regulatory calculations and financial reporting disclosures
•    Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels including the most senior level in the Bank and with third parties, including the ability to set and explain Risk & Credit Technology changes to a non-technical audience and de-escalate issues and business impact caused by incidents

EMEA Cross-Product Platforms Technology area is the largest part of EMEA Information Technology & Security Department (ITSD). We partner with SMBC EMEA group functions and other regional and global IT Teams to deliver integrated technology solutions that transcend individual business product lines, fostering interoperability, scalability, and efficiency across enterprise domains. Risk Management & Credit IT Platforms team are a key sub-area within EMEA Cross-Product Platforms organisation covering multiple IT solutions used across EMEA region by Risk Management & Credit Department Functions. 

Position Description

Facts & Figurres relevant to this role:

•    Risk Management and Credit Departments of all EMEA legal entities e.g., UK, EU and rest of EMEA
•    Systems include various internally build and 3rd party platforms and applications enabling Market, Liquidity, Counterparty, Credit, Operational, and other Financial and Non-Financial Risk Type and Credit Departments
•    Annual initiative budget ~ USD 8 MM CAPX and ~ USD 2 MM OPEX
•    Direct team ~ 20+ and indirect teams ~ 40+
•    Architecture – Legacy and Latest, Micro Services, Azure, Databricks, Camunda, Containers, Traditional On-Prem, Data & Analytics, Intelligent Automation, AI & Data Science tools

Responsibilities of this role:

•    Lead IT Domain Architecture, Solution Design, Development and Implementation of Risk Management & Credit Departments IT Systems
•    Delivery of New and Enhancements to IT Applications and Platforms and Service Ownership of EMEA Risk Management & Credit Departments IT Systems 
•    Lead Technical Specification, Design, Software Engineering, Integration and Testing of Risk Management and Credit Deoartment IT Systems
•    Lead Design and Delivery of IT Service Ownership of Risk Management & Credit Departments IT platforms & their integration interfaces
•    Lead Full System delivery life cycle of IT solutions design, build, test, implement, deploy and cutover
•    Lead Delivery of IT architecture and solutions in partnership with other SMBC and vendor teams
•    Lead stakeholder engagement, technical delivery management, budget and line management
•    Audit & Regulatory responses on behalf of IT
•    Line Management and Direction Setting for Risk Management and Credit IT teams
•    Managing multiple competing demands from different stakeholders, projects and BAU activities
•    Maintaining the quality of IT solutions based on legacy and strategic technologies, effective IT and Change risk management
•    Direct and indirect management of resources aligning approaches with colleagues in other regions and other teams
