Role Summary
Deliver high-quality day-to-day derivatives trade management services, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across all BAU processes. Ensure adherence to established control frameworks, policies, and procedures, safeguarding the integrity of trade data, reporting, and downstream impacts. Enable efficient front-to-back operations by maintaining robust oversight of trade lifecycle activities and resolving issues within defined risk tolerances. Success is demonstrated through consistent delivery to SLA, strong control outcomes, and well-maintained, standardised operational procedures across the team.
Business Area
The role operates within Derivatives Trade Management in the Middle Office function, supporting Front Office trading desks and collaborating closely with Treasury, Finance & Control, and COO teams. It integrates across EMEA and global operations to deliver consistent, controlled BAU services aligned with enterprise policies and regulatory expectations. The role plays a key part in ensuring operational stability, standardisation, and control discipline across derivative processes.
Position Description
- Geographic Scope: London-based role with interaction across multiple EMEA offices and derivative trading teams
- Portfolio / Process Volume: Supports high-volume derivative trade flows across multiple asset classes
- Financial Exposure: No direct budget responsibility; activities support control over derivative P&L, fee calculations (IMA, SMVA, FFT), and exposures linked to significant trading volumes
- Team Size / People Impact: Individual contributor within a broader Middle Office team; contributes to alignment and consistency across peers
- Time Horizon: Focus on daily BAU delivery, monthly reporting cycles, and quarterly control processes
- Regulatory Impact: Activities subject to PRA/FCA oversight, internal audit, and risk governance frameworks
- Execute daily BAU derivative trade management activities to a high standard, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to defined SLAs
- Ensure all processes are performed in line with established policies, control frameworks, and regulatory requirements, escalating exceptions where risk thresholds are breached
- Perform control checks on trade booking and lifecycle events, validating alignment to approved terms and maintaining strong audit trails
- Manage non-economic trade updates (e.g., CUSIP/ISIN changes), ensuring data integrity and accurate downstream reporting, including TTR support
- Run and oversee overnight MO/BO processes, validating outputs, investigating breaks, and ensuring timely resolution or escalation
- Deliver recurring BAU reporting including trade volumes, Best Execution, TPRM, and fee calculations (IMA, SMVA, FFT), ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Produce ad hoc MI and analysis to support operational oversight and decision-making within Front Office and control functions
- Support UAT activities by executing trade booking and lifecycle scenarios, ensuring BAU processes are accurately reflected in system enhancements
- Maintain, review, and enhance desk top procedures, ensuring they are current, comprehensive, and aligned to actual practices and control requirements
- Drive consistency and alignment across the team by standardising processes, controls, and documentation
- Identify process inefficiencies or control gaps within BAU activities and implement improvements to enhance robustness and efficiency
Skills:
- Strong understanding of derivative trade lifecycle and Middle Office BAU processes
- Experience operating within a controlled environment with strict adherence to policies and procedures
- Proven ability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive BAU activities with accuracy and discipline
- Experience with trade validation, control checks, and operational reporting
- Strong attention to detail and ownership of data quality and process integrity
- Ability to maintain and document procedures clearly and effectively
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across Front Office and control functions
- Advanced Excel skills, including VBA development, and strong MI/reporting capability
