Role Summary

This role will work across the UK legal entity control teams with responsibility for prioritising and delivery of 'run the bank' change initiatives to improve team efficiency in a number of core areas:

  • FINREP reporting
  • Head Office Reporting
  • Month end close
  • Legal Entity MI report preparation and standardisation
  • External audit delivery

Business Area

  • The EMEA region comprises a number of SMBC branches, and separate legal entities based in London and Frankfurt
  • This is a new role within the Financial Control team and will involve EMEA-wide collaboration.

  • Chief Financial Officer & Head of Finance
  • Head of Financial Control and Reporting
  • EMEA Finance team colleagues
  • Front Office / Functional leads
  • Operations team, Internal & External Audit

Position Description

  • Support legal entity Financial Control teams in the inventory and prioritisation of manual processes and define roadmap to automate
  • Manage the automation of current FINREP reporting processes through use of core regulatory reporting systems and enhancements to underlying data
  • Review inventory of core legal entity reporting and identify opportunities to standardise
  • Identify opportunities to align and accelerate month-end close timelines
  • Support on various financial and analytical parameters to support senior management in effective decision making.
  • High quality understanding of treasury related activities like Hedge Accounting, Fx Management, Derivatives etc.
  • High quality support to the end-to-end financial accounting processes
  • Liaising with External Auditors to assist with their understanding of SMBC BI’s Financial Statements and delivery of audit evidence
  • Proactive knowledge sharing of new / relevant topics across teams
  • Takes the lead in driving change and optimising effective working across the team
  • Ensure policy, procedure and guidance note are developed and established for each relevant activities and the same are updated on regular basis.
