Background:

  • The Role holder plays an essential role in supporting senior colleagues (VPs and above) during the whole lifecycle of transactions, from preparation of Transaction Summary Sheets (and adjoining economic analysis), credit applications, liaising with credit department, undertaking customer due diligence, regularly analysing customer credit, assisting in documentation process, deal closing and dealing with other post-closing activities (amendments, waivers, etc.).  
  • The credit and transaction analysis undertaken by the role holder allows the Relationship Managers and TPD Management to make informed decisions on which customers to support and which transactions to pursue.

Purpose of Job:

  • AFGE’s business is very much credit focused when it comes to the airline and lessor customers it decides to support. Strong credit analysis of these customers is therefore a fundamental part of the business and allows the management to make informed decisions.  
  • The AVP / Relationship Assistant role and the in-depth credit analysis the role holder undertakes, help the bank make correct credit decisions, and can also highlight credit concerns in advance, thereby potentially avoiding/minimising losses.
  • The origination and execution of new transactions is a key part of AFGE’s business, the Relationship Assistant is there to support the Relationship Manager by undertaking detailed transaction analysis on each opportunity and assist during the origination and execution process of each deal.

Position Description

Facts / Scale:

  • Role holder is responsible for the annual credit monitoring of c.10-15 airline / lessor customers, and the annual credit review of the underlying SPVs of c.50 transactions per year.
  • Role holder is responsible for preparing c.10-15 Client Account Plans per year.
  • Role holder will be required to prepare c.5-10 new credit applications per year.
  • Role holder is required to liaise and collaborate with stakeholders inside and to some extent outside the bank.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Transaction Summary Sheets and relevant deal return calculations in order to make decisions on appropriate strategies for each potential transaction.
  • Conduct credit analysis as required and document appropriately, preparing preliminary conclusions and making suggestions on appropriate course of action.
  • Enter/check financial information into the banks systems (financial statements, prepare projections if required, transaction details etc.).
  • Undertake correct assessment of credit grade and prepare submission of credit applications to Credit Department.
  • Prepare Client Account Plans / strategies in consultation with RMs.
  • Proactively identify and follow all necessary compliance and internal procedures required to ensure full compliance with the Bank’s procedures.
  • Undertake timely customer due diligence and onboarding for new clients/customers and ongoing reviews of customers in the AFGE portfolio.
