Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced AVP-level ESG Technical Business Analyst to support delivery of complex regulatory change initiatives, with a focus on CRD VI (Capital Requirements Directive VI) and CSDR (Central Securities Depositories Regulation) as well as supporting BAU activities.
This role acts as a key bridge between ESG subject matter experts, data teams, and technology delivery, ensuring that ESG business requirements are accurate, regulatorily aligned, and translated into scalable, data-driven solutions. It combines business analysis, data analysis, and solution design, requiring both regulatory understanding and strong technical capability.
You will consume ESG business requirements, validate them against relevant regulations, and translate them into optimal solution designs, data models, and delivery backlogs, leveraging strong analytical and technical skillsets.

Position Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with ESG SMEs to understand, refine, and challenge business requirements related to CRD VI and CSDR.
• Validate requirements against regulatory frameworks, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and auditability.
• Identify and resolve gaps, inconsistencies, and ambiguities to ensure robust regulatory alignment.
• Translate validated requirements into functional specifications, technical designs, and delivery artefacts.
• Design efficient, scalable solutions with a strong focus on data architecture, flows, and controls.
• Break down requirements into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring readiness for Agile delivery.
• Define and structure the delivery backlog, aligned to regulatory deadlines and business priorities.
• Develop reports, design and implement calculations, and build prototypes for analytical and business solutions.
• Perform detailed data analysis to support ESG regulatory requirements, including:
o Data sourcing, profiling, and reconciliation
o Identification of data gaps and quality issues
o Definition of transformation and enrichment logic
• Define ESG-related data models, mappings, and lineage, particularly for CRD VI reporting and CSDR settlement metrics.
• Ensure adherence to data governance, controls, and traceability standards.
• Leverage analytical tools and technologies such as:
o Advanced Excel (data modelling, complex formulas, pivot tables)
o SQL (data extraction, querying, validation)
o Python and/or R (data analysis, transformation, automation, prototyping)
• Partner with data engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation of data requirements.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to define optimal solution designs, including:
o Data pipelines and integration patterns
o Reporting and analytics solutions
o System enhancements or new platform capabilities
• Contribute to design decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture.
• Produce process flows, data flow diagrams, and solution design documentation.
• Support end-to-end delivery across Agile / SDLC frameworks, from requirement validation through to implementation and testing.
• Work closely with QA and business teams to support UAT, test case definition, and validation.
• Ensure clear traceability from business requirement → regulatory requirement → data logic → system implementation.
• Act as a liaison between ESG teams, compliance, risk, operations, data, and technology teams.
• Clearly communicate data insights, design decisions, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in governance forums and provide transparent updates on progress, risks, and dependencies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• 5+ years of experience in data analysis and technical business analysis within financial services, with strong capabilities in technical requirements gathering, data architecture, and database related design.
• Strong working knowledge of:
o CRD VI / CRR frameworks, including ESG integration
o CSDR, particularly settlement discipline and reporting
• Good understanding of broader ESG regulatory landscape (e.g., Pillar 3 ESG, SFDR, EU Taxonomy).
• Proficiency with:
o Excel (advanced) for modelling and analysis
o SQL for querying and validating large datasets
o Python and/or R for data analysis, transformation, and automation
• Experience working with:
o Data models, data lineage, and mapping
o Regulatory reporting datasets and systems
• Ability to combine data-driven insights with business and regulatory understanding.
• Proven ability to:
o Translate business requirements into technical designs and delivery artefacts
o Produce high-quality documentation (BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process maps, data flows)
• Strong experience in Agile delivery environments, including backlog ownership and story refinement.
• Solid understanding of:
o SDLC and testing lifecycle
o Requirements traceability and governance
o ESG requirements and Sustainability strategy.

• Experience in risk data validation, reconciliation, and lineage analysis, using SQL or equivalent analytical tools.
• Experience developing reports, coding and prototyping analytical solutions.
• Experience in Regulatory programme delivery and large-scale data platforms.
• Experience implementing analytical solutions within regulatory or ESG data environments.
• Knowledge of external emissions and environmental data providers.
Education and Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline.
• Desirable certifications:
o ESG (e.g., CFA ESG Certificate)
o CFA / FRM
o Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, Agile BA)
o Data/analytics certifications (e.g., Python, SQL)
