Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an EMEA Head of Transaction Monitoring, Transaction Control and Data Control  (Executive Director) for our Operations and Administration Department to join our Financial Crime Middle Office Team. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams across EMEA , driving performance, transformation and operational excellence across Transaction Monitoring, Transaction Control and Data Control teams. with the aim to 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and inspire high-performing teams across the region
  • Drive change and transformation to enhance efficiency and quality
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines of defence
  • Ensure strong governance, controls, and regulatory alignment

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven leadership experience in Financial Crime (e.g. Transaction Monitoring or Sanctions)
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and controls
  • A change agent with the ability to influence and deliver impact at scale

 

Business Area

The role will work within the 1st line Operations and Administration Department, within the Financial Crime Middle Office.

 

Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Middle Office, you will hold an EMEA role managing the Transaction Monitoring, Transaction Control, and Data Control teams (circa 75 staff).

Position Description

The role holder will:

  • Deliver to appropriate SLAs/KPIs, Compliance Standards, Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure execution risk and training needs in these teams are well understood and controlled
  • Work in partnership with QA, 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defence to assist with internal reviews and implement any subsequent findings in a timely manner
  • Understand and follow the Internal Risk and Control Framework of the organisation acting, raising, and mitigating issues as required, as well as being the fundamental agent of change for the 1st Line Financial Crime teams

 

You will bring:

  • Exceptional Leadership capabilities to drive and deliver high levels of performance, employee engagement and a willingness to transform the team’s ways of working over time
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory framework associated with all aspects of Financial Crime. Previous leadership experience within a sanctions / transaction monitoring capability, linked with proven change capabilities is essential.
  • An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, peers and more senior management, to influence decision making, behaviours and cultures so that identified recommendations are effectively deployed.
