Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We are looking for a Vice President - Deputy Head of London Trade and Execution Support (LNTES) to join our Global Markets – Derivatives / Trade and Execution Support team. 

 

This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and execution activities of the LNTES function, ensuring accurate trade execution, strong front office support, and effective coordination across global teams.

 

Essentials of the role: 

Oversee execution of trades and ensure accurate representation of transactions and risk in trading systems 

Support and help manage the LNTES team, driving process improvements and operational excellence 

Act as a key interface between Front Office, Middle Office, and Back Office across regions 

 

Candidate requirements: 

Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to handle complex financial data 

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels 

Experience in derivatives, trading support, or execution environments with strong attention to detail 

Business Area

Global Markets – Derivatives operates across London, Frankfurt, New York, and Hong Kong, providing 24-hour trading coverage. The business focuses on interest rate and currency derivatives including swaps, options, and FX products, alongside related hedging instruments such as government securities and repos. 
 
The Trade and Execution Support team plays a critical role within the Front Office by handling execution and operational responsibilities, enabling Trading and Marketing teams to focus on revenue generation. 

Position Description

The Vice President / Deputy Head of LNTES is responsible for supporting team leadership, overseeing trade execution activities, and ensuring operational excellence across the function. 
 

Team Management 

-Support the Head of LNTES in improving processes and driving continuous improvement 

-Train and develop junior team members and promote knowledge sharing 

-Ensure processes are documented and maintained 

 

Execution & Trading Support 

-Execute and oversee trades including bonds, repos, swaps, funding trades, and hedging activities 

-Manage residual positions and support front office trading activities (non-risk-taking capacity) 

-Ensure accurate trade capture, P&L, and risk representation in systems 

 

Operational & Strategic Support 

-Run and support front office processes such as funding rates, risk calculations, and trade modelling 

-Provide analysis including P&L investigations, risk reporting, and market commentary 

-Support projects and provide technical expertise 

 

Stakeholder Engagement 

-Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and global teams 

-Act as the face of Front Office to Middle and Back Office functions 

 

Continuous Improvement 

-Drive automation and efficiency of processes 

-Take on additional responsibilities including reporting and analytics
