Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Data Quality Analyst for our EMEA Data Office to join our team. 

Summary of Role:

  • Drive the Remediation of Data Quality (DQ) Issues and Exceptions within the EMEA Region under Data Governance Team.
  • Review the Data Control Requirements and Business Data Controls as part of the Data Governance onboarding (initially focusing on Risk & Finance Domains)
  • Capture, build, test & deploy, the corresponding DQ Rules using the relevant DQ Tools to extend the central monitoring of DQ gaps for EMEA Key Data Elements.
  • Perform the Month End BAU processing tasks

Essentials of the Role

  • Investigate, capture, track and report DQ Issues by interacting with the business users to resolve DQ gaps.
  • Drive the conversations with all stakeholder types including Business and IT to determine / agree the plan for remediating DQ gaps
  • Capture the relevant artefacts in line with the EMEA DQ Framework and use Collibra DQ to build detective controls

Candidate Requirements

  • Working knowledge and understanding of data governance, DQ, metadata, monitoring/ profiling, analysis, and data management tools including an understanding of Physical, Logical, and Business data Models
  • Expertise in DQ Issue and Exceptions Management especially the use of the Service NOW ticketing platform and DQ Monitoring Tools
  • Experience in key Data Domains such as Risk, Finance, Transaction & Product, Master and Reference Data

Business Area

The Data Quality & Control Team sits within the Data Governance Team in the EMEA Data Office as part of the Operations, Planning and Data Department. It covers all EMEA entities (including Securities and Banking subsidiaries) and all datasets.  The Teams primary focus is on data that is most important to SMBC EMEA and ensuring that it meets defined quality standards for business contexts. We deliver this successfully within a framework of four components, spanning DQ Case Management, Assessment, Metrics & Reporting, and Remediation.

As part of this work, the Data Quality & Control Team has been tasked to innovate and establish a robust framework to measure, monitor and report on (critical) enterprise data to ensure that it is fit for purpose for EMEA with the aspiration to collaborate towards a wider, global model, working with the Americas and Tokyo Group Data Offices to achieve this.
The underlying message for the EMEA Data Office is that as we evolve, the Data Quality & Control Team will focus on supporting how we can use Data to drive new ways of working and improved business outcomes.

We have been formed to really support the drive of data-led transformation through the bank, and it is a great opportunity to join us at an exciting part of the journey where we are rolling this out to the EMEA region fully.

Position Description

The Data Quality Analyst role will be instrumental in the continued innovation and growth within the Data Governance Team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Data Quality & Control Monitoring, as well as the many facets of Data pertaining to data management, data quality, data analytics, and data visualisation.

As the concepts of Data Quality & Control Monitoring, are being embedded in the organisation, the role also requires an ability to educate and convince stakeholders at all levels on the essential nature of this function.
