Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Cross-Product Applications and Platforms Software Engineering Development and Operations Manager (Director) to join our team. You will understand the requirements of Corporate and Investment Banking group functions (e.g. risk, regulatory reporting and finance) and bring a solid track record of managing large diverse geographically spread-out engineering teams. This experienced team leader will manage the delivery of complex engineering solutions and priorities of SMBC EMEA group-functions domains. They will partner with Cross-Product Functional Domains Leads to support their multiple books of work and change portfolios. They will provide technical engineering and architecture leadership for the whole of the EMEA Cross-Product Platforms community.
Business Area
EMEA Cross-Product Platforms Technology team delivers IT solutions to SMBC group functions across EMEA Region including shared platforms and domain specific applications. The team has significantly expanded in the last 18 months to include software engineering, development and operations teams in London, Dublin and India. These teams are supporting multiple Cross Product Domains e.g. Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Business Operations, Compliance and Corporate Functions. This new senior director role will be based in London and provide effective technical leadership for our engineering, application developement and operations teams and significantly strengthen our overall engineering capability. The new lead will join Cross Product Platforms Technology leadership team and provide technical direction, line management, career development, employee engagement to our engineers and application developers working in different domains. They will also be responsible for the DevSecOps strategy rollout across Cross Product Platforms teams.
Position Description
- Collaborate closely with Cross Product Domains Leads and Product Owners to understand their requirements and support their delivery
- Lead DevSecOps onshore and offshore resources responsible for development and operations of multiple applications and platforms
- Manage Technology stack ensuring that it is fully optimised to meet current requirements, growth demand and regulatory obligations
- Promote and deliver high quality, fast, adaptable and flexible software solutions to meet and anticipate the demand while reducing the total cost of ownership
- Collaborate with other SMBC application, engineering, infrastructure, security and application management teams to ensure smooth delivery and continuous improvement
- Line Management and Direction Setting
- Domain Architecture & Solution Design
- Lead, manage and mentor internal engineering resources
- Manage vendor resources engaged on staff augmentation basis
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment
