Role Summary
SMBC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced AVP-level Credit Risk QA professional to carry out functional testing, regression testing, and other quality assurance activities across Credit Risk technology platforms and regulatory change initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in banking or financial services testing, together with a solid understanding of credit risk systems, data flows, and end-to-end testing practices. The role supports both Run-the-Bank (RTB) services and change programmes, helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality, stable, and compliant releases through structured test governance, automation, and effective stakeholder collaboration.
This position will work closely with Risk, Front Office, IT, Data, and Change teams to deliver resilient and scalable solutions aligned with regulatory and business objectives.

EMEA Cross-Product Platforms Technology team is the largest part of EMEA Information Technology & Security Department (ITSD). We partner closely with SMBC's EMEA business functions, as well as regional and global technology teams, to deliver integrated technology solutions that span multiple business domains. Our focus is on driving interoperability, scalability, and operational efficiency across the enterprise technology landscape.
Position Description
Key Responsibilities
Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for Credit Risk systems, enhancements, and regulatory change initiatives.
Validate Credit Risk workflows, calculations, and data accuracy across upstream and downstream systems.
Design, prepare, and execute test cases and scenarios based on business and functional requirements, ensuring appropriate test coverage.
Support release cycles by conducting SIT, UAT, regression testing, and post-release verification activities.
Identify, log, track, and retest defects, working closely with development teams and business stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
Maintain test artefacts, including test plans, test cases, execution results, and regression packs using Xray or other approved test management tools.
Participate in requirement reviews and stakeholder discussions, providing QA input to improve solution quality, reduce delivery risk, and ensure traceability between requirements and testing.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of test environments, test data, and testing dependencies across multiple teams and workstreams.
Produce clear and accurate test execution, defect, and quality assurance status reports for project and release governance forums.
Ensure adherence to testing standards, governance processes, audit requirements, environment management, test data preparation, and documentation controls.
Work collaboratively with Risk, Front Office, Finance, Data, Technology, and Change teams to support the successful delivery of business and regulatory change.
Contribute to release readiness assessments and support post-implementation verification activities to ensure stable production deployment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Strong of hands-on experience in functional, regression, and integration testing within banking or financial services.
Experience testing Credit Risk, Risk Management, or Capital Markets platforms, with exposure to areas such as credit exposure, limit monitoring, trade lifecycle processing, collateral management, regulatory reporting, VaR, P&L, sensitivities, or CRR2/CRR3 initiatives.
Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC), defect management processes, and quality assurance best practices.
Experience preparing test plans, regression test packs, test evidence, and QA sign-off documentation to support release governance and audit requirements.
Proficiency with test management and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Xray, Confluence, and similar platforms.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and test cases.
Good knowledge of SQL, data validation, reconciliation testing, and end-to-end data flow verification.
Exposure to test automation frameworks and scripting tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, REST Assured, Python, or equivalent automation solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business, technology, and offshore delivery teams.
