Credit Risk Management Officer

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Credit Risk Management Officer for our Risk Management Department to join our team. 

Credit Portfolio, Policy & Modelling Group is responsible for managing credit related policies, rules and procedures in SMBCBI and SMBC (“Procedures”) and Model Risk related tasks. The Group is also managing credit portfolio for SMBCBI, especially large exposure management. This role is responsible to maintain a high degree of interaction with all stakeholders to manage credit risk management framework.

ESSENTIALS OF THE ROLE 

Keep track of Large Exposures on a daily basis and liaise with relevant Finance & Control (“F&C”) and Risk Management Department (“RMD”) colleagues when an investigation is required.

Produce and analyse monthly and quarterly reporting in line with regulatory requirements such as the Exceptional Deals and Local Default Reports. 

Coordinate and collate the CCRMC and be able to liaise with multiple stakeholders across the bank.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively convey complex situations and data problems to senior management.

Strong data and reporting skills. Experience in developing Power BI reports, including use of DAX is a plus.

Good skills in Excel, Word and Power Point. Access skill is an advantage.

Risk Management Department

The Risk Management Department (RMD) is a second line of defence function that works with all other departments to ensure that the Group can do business safely. RMD facilitates this by ensuring the appropriate risk strategies are in place and that we are able to identify risks and be able to implement the necessary controls to ensure we meet regulatory expectations.

Position Description

Conduct portfolio analysis on both a weekly and monthly basis identifying key trends, analysing individual metrics and being able to pinpoint the main drivers.  Then be able to present these findings to senior stakeholders and governance forums as well as following up with Front Offices (“FO”) and Credit Department (“CD”) when required.

Produce and analyse monthly and quarterly reporting in line with regulatory requirements such as the Exceptional Deals and Local Default Reports. 

Coordinate and collate the CCRMC and be able to liaise with multiple stakeholders across the bank. Under the supervision of the Chairman, help write the Executive Summary for the CCRMC

Be able to present packs to senior stakeholders, including General Managers, on a recurring basis.

Be able to work on your own or with a team to establish new processes which has a departmental and a bank wide impact.

Maintain the Key Risk Indicator (“KRI”) Framework and carry out the annual refresh of said KRIs, liaising with all relevant stakeholders.

Lead and participate in the RMD and CD working groups.

Review and report limits for Credit Portfolio management.

Review policies, procedures and other relevant EMEA documentation upon request or during the annual review

As the risk management hub in EMEA, collaborate with each branch / entity and Risk Management Unit in Tokyo. Support risk management function in each region as necessary.
