Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an Associate for our Credit Planning, Portfolio Intelligence & Sustainability team.

The role will support the development of forward-looking, data-driven credit management capabilities across portfolio intelligence, credit transformation, data & MI, sustainability risk and credit cost management. The Associate will work as a Business Analyst, supporting analysis, data modelling, testing, documentation, reporting and automation activities across the team.

Essentials of the role

Support portfolio analysis, management reporting, data validation, dashboard development and reporting automation.
Assist business analysis, requirements gathering, process documentation, testing and implementation for credit transformation initiatives.
Prepare high-quality materials and analysis for governance, portfolio review and management discussion.

Candidate requirements

2–5 years’ experience in risk management, finance, data analytics, credit risk, business management or a related discipline.
Strong analytical capability, attention to detail, written communication skills and ability to work with data.
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; Power BI, SQL, Python or business analysis experience would be desirable.

Business Area

Credit Planning is a strategic capability-building function within EMEA Credit Department.
The team develops forward-looking, data-driven credit management capabilities across credit cost management, portfolio intelligence and credit transformation.
It works closely with senior management, Credit Risk, Front Office, Data and global stakeholders to strengthen portfolio oversight, credit cost management and alignment with the Bank's global risk framework.

Responsibility

1. Credit Cost & Problem Asset Management

Assist preparation of credit cost analysis and IFRS & JGAAP standard report. 
Support problem asset monitoring and reporting activities.
Prepare management information used in governance forums.
Support production of regular portfolio risk reporting.
Assist preparation of governance materials and committee papers.
Maintain process documentation and operating guidance.
Support maintenance of controls and governance standards.

2. Data & Management Information

Support development of data and reporting infrastructure.
Validate data used within management reports.
Support dashboard development and data visualisation.
Contribute to reporting automation initiatives.

3. Portfolio Intelligence

Support the delivery and enhancement of portfolio intelligence capabilities.
Support portfolio analysis activities.
Support early warning monitoring and deterioration tracking.
Assist with portfolio reviews and risk trend analysis.
Support stress testing exercises and scenario analysis.
Contribute to development of portfolio monitoring methodologies.

4. Credit Transformation

Support strategic change initiatives across EMEA Credit Department.
Support global credit transformation (GCTx) and associated system integration project activities.
Assist business analysis and requirement gathering.
Support process redesign and documentation.
Participate in testing and implementation activities.
Support identification of operational efficiency opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Experience
•    2-5 years' experience in Risk Management, Finance, Data Analytics, Credit Risk, Business Management or related disciplines.
•    Experience working with management reporting, data analysis or process improvement.
•    Banking or financial services experience desirable.

•    Understanding of management information and reporting processes.
