Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Risk and Data Analytics VP for our Credit department to join our team.
Lead the Data Analytics function’s strategic agenda within Credit Department, ensuring that analytical capability enhances individual credit assessment quality, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
The VP will leverage deep institutional knowledge of the bank’s data architecture, systems, and governance processes to embed sustainable analytical and AI governance practices.
Position Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Translate regulatory and governance expectations (EBA, ECB, BCBS 239) into practical data and analytical processes.
• Lead design and enhancement of dashboards, explainability tools, and automated data validation for credit assessment.
• Oversee integration of internal data sources (Alteryx, SQL, SharePoint) with model workflows to ensure lineage and auditability.
• Act as a bridge between model owners, credit sanction users, and data governance teams — ensuring model outputs are used responsibly and consistently.
• Provide analytical insight and reporting to senior management on credit quality trends and data integrity.
• Mentor and develop AVP staff to build advanced analytics, AI literacy, and business translation skills.
• Drive continuous improvement by translating internal process knowledge into structured, replicable controls and tools.
• Lead process optimisation initiatives to streamline credit assessment and reporting, delivering measurable efficiency gains through automation, standardisation, and improved data lineage controls.
• Collaborate across global divisions (including Credit, Risk, and IT functions) to align data governance practices, share analytical tools, and drive consistency in credit quality monitoring and reporting frameworks.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of credit risk frameworks (PD/LGD/EAD) and regulatory data governance (EBA/GL/2020/06, BCBS 239).
• Demonstrated experience leveraging institutional knowledge of systems, data architecture, and governance processes.
• Applied credit analysis and ability to interpret financial data in risk context.
• Advanced skills in SQL, Power BI, Python, and Alteryx for workflow automation and insight delivery.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and training capability.
• Demonstratable achievement in credit analytics or data-driven risk management roles
