We’re looking for an experienced Fixed Income Sales professional to join our EMEA Global Markets division with a focus on UK-based real money accounts and Middle Eastern financial institutions.

This role focuses on growing SMBC’s Emerging Markets credit franchise across EMEA by developing strong client relationships, particularly with UK real money accounts and hedge funds. The role partners closely with trading and DCM to distribute primary issuance, provide secondary market liquidity, and contribute to sustainable trading P&L.

ESSENTIALS OF THE ROLE 

  • Build and expand a meaningful EM credit client base across EMEA, with a focus on long-term, profitable relationships.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients by identifying market trends, client needs, and business opportunities, and sharing insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with traders, DCM, Risk, and Compliance to support primary transactions and effective secondary market execution.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years’ experience with a strong understanding of global Emerging Markets credit and macroeconomic dynamics.
  • Proven ability to establish credibility and trusted relationships with portfolio managers, traders, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, commercial acumen, and ability to operate effectively under pressure in a fast-paced markets environment.

Business Area

Responsible for originating and executing fixed income flow and structured product sales with real money accounts in the UK and institutional clients in the GCC. The role will leverage SMBC’s global product platform and local relationships to deepen penetration across sovereign wealth funds, central banks, and commercial banks in the region.

Position Description

• Drive primary and secondary flow across rates, credit, and structured products for MENA-based institutions and UK real money clients.
• Coordinate closely with trading, DCM, and syndicate teams to position SMBC on new issues and cross-border opportunities.
• Develop regional coverage strategy and contribute to EMEA growth initiatives and client development plans. 

• 5+ years of relevant experience in fixed income sales with demonstrable coverage of Middle Eastern FIs and UK asset managers.
• Strong understanding of regional investment mandates, regulatory dynamics, and product demand (USD, EUR, JPY credit, govies, EM, etc).
• Proven ability to generate revenue, manage key client relationships, and work within a collaborative, global team environment.
