Role Summary

Credit Analyst (AVP), Structured Finance Credit, Credit Department

The Structured Credit team is responsible for the risk evaluation of financing proposals in connection with project finance, acquisition financing (clients acquiring a stake-holding in an operational asset), asset finance (specifically aviation and maritime), real estate, securitization and derivative products.

 

Under supervision, the jobholder will:

  1. Conduct appropriate risk analysis of proposals for new business, increased lending, variations from existing terms, credit reviews and restructures.
  2. Assess and challenge material provided by the front office.
  3. Prepare highly analytical, succinct and well-articulated credit papers with recommendation to approvers.
  4. Proactively monitor obligors and industry sub-sectors within an assigned portfolio.
  5. Escalate deteriorating credits and other problem situation.

 

 

 

Profile of Candidate

 

  • Degree level education &/or relevant professional qualifications preferred.
  • Meaningful / relevant experience (min. 2 years) in an analytical role in a major financial institution or relevant experience with a ratings agency covering project finance &/or asset finance risk analysis.
  • Good knowledge of lending structures encompassing appropriate risk factor identification, cash-flow analysis, stress-testing as well as familiarity with documentation and market trends.
  • Good communication and excellent written skills for preparing succinct and well-articulated credit papers.
  • High level of IT literacy,
  • Sound interpersonal skills, supporting collaboration / teamwork / the Bank’s Diversity & Inclusion values.

 

Position Description

  • Exercise sound risk assessment discipline toward new transactions and management of an assigned portfolio of assets including problem assets.
  • Work with front office colleagues to ensure delivery to clients whilst maintaining high credit quality. Articulate risk perception and appetite for a transaction in line with bank policy and procedures, manage the interaction and communication with front office teams, and where necessary, attend meetings with clients, advisers and consultants, to gain a better understanding of the transaction and industry dynamics.
  • Experience and capability to take a transaction from inception to approval without significant supervision. 
  • Flexibility to work to tight deadlines under pressure including working outside of contracted hours from time to time.
  • Collaborate with other risk and compliance functions where appropriate to ensure enterprise-wide view of risk is considered. 
  • Assist and support colleagues in the team, particularly in times of strong workflow / staff absences, by proactively taking work to ensure a fair distribution of work.
  • Develop relationships within the team: seek guidance and advice from colleagues; express well-reasoned arguments and influence senior management where and when needed; and from time to time, assist in the training of front office staff, secondees and interns.
  • Willingness / flexibility to be involved in ad hoc projects supporting the strategy of Structured Credit team &/or the Department.
