Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Corporate Credit Trader (Director) for our Sales & Trading, Global Markets Department, Credit Group to join our team.
The role focuses on trading investment grade corporate credit instruments and supporting primary and secondary market activities across EMEA and globally.
Essentials of the role:
- Distributing primary transactions and providing liquidity in secondary markets
- Contributing positively to trading P&L
- Collaborating with global teams including DCM, sales, and syndicate
Requirements:
- Proven experience in corporate credit trading with strong P&L performance
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage risk and perform under pressure
Business Area
Fixed Income, Credit is a key growth area globally within SMBC, with Corporate Credit Trading playing a central role in supporting both primary issuance and secondary market liquidity. The team focuses on expanding the corporates trading platform and strengthening global client relationships.
Position Description
The Corporate Credit Trader will be responsible for trading senior and subordinated corporate securities across EUR, USD, and G10 markets. The role involves close collaboration with traders, sales teams, DCM originators, and syndicate partners to ensure effective distribution of new issues and active participation in secondary markets.
The role also includes executing trades accurately and in a timely manner, managing associated market and credit risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and developing trading strategies to enhance performance. The individual will contribute to the desk’s P&L, build and maintain global client relationships, and support the development of junior team members.
